10 p.m.
The first and second floors of the internet café were still bustling and packed.
The third floor, designated as the premium area, remained as quiet as ever.
In a corner seat, Chen Fan had returned to his solitary state after Tanya left, no longer playing the role of “big boss with a girl.”
At this moment, he was intently staring at his computer screen, his brows furrowing and relaxing intermittently. His face held no smile, only a shadow of worry.
Gradually, his eyes grew brighter, darting rapidly as if plotting something.
Chen Fan wasn’t playing games, nor was he browsing any entertainment sites.
Instead, he was scrolling through the official website of a certain government department of the Greater South Province.
Each time he opened or refreshed a page, he promptly took screenshots and saved them onto a USB drive.
Thankfully, Tanya had already left after their enjoyable gaming session.
Had she still been there, she would have been shocked by Chen Fan’s mysterious actions.
She would have surely muttered, “Is this something students can do? Chen Fan, are you aiming for the sky?”
More than ten minutes passed.
Satisfied, Chen Fan unplugged the USB drive, logged off, and downed the rest of his soda in one gulp. Humming a tune, he stood and left.
Outside the restroom on the first floor of the internet café.
“Zhe Ge’s instruction is simple: find the guy in the photo and rough him up a bit. But don’t hurt him seriously—just leave some bruises on his face.”
“As long as the job’s done, each of you will get twenty for your trouble. Are you in?”
Two young men with dyed blond hair stood outside the restroom, half-smoked cigarettes dangling from their mouths, arms crossed, their faces brimming with the proud disdain typical of street thugs.
They were Xiao Ze’s henchmen assigned to deal with Chen Fan—Chu Dawang and Wang Jinzhou.
In front of them stood three young men, around nineteen years old, about 1.7 meters tall. Unlike the blond duo, these three had peroxide permed, voluminous hair.
Their clothing was somewhat unconventional: thick jackets paired with oversized slippers.
Their toes were purple from the cold, yet their faces betrayed no sign of discomfort.
They looked like tough guys through and through.
“Brother Chu, Brother Zhou, since this is Zhe Ge’s job, the three of us are definitely in. The money’s not the main thing; we just want to help Zhe Ge!”
One of the three, a square-faced youth dotted with acne, spoke for the group and accepted the task. He then asked, “Brother Chu, besides the photo, do we have any other info on Chen Fan? Like places he frequents? So we can stake out.”
Chu Dawang took a drag from his cigarette and said, “Chen Fan is a senior at County No.1 High School. It’s vacation now, so he’s hard to reach, but classes resume for seniors on the 15th. You can stake him out then.”
“Got it, noted!”
As Chu Dawang and Wang Jinzhou led the three new recruits out of the restroom, they happened to cross paths with Chen Fan, who was heading to the counter to log off and pay.
Chen Fan didn’t glance at them; he went straight to the attendant.
“Whoa, isn’t that Chen...”
The square-faced youth was about to finish his sentence when Chu Dawang quickly covered his mouth, whispering harshly, “Are you stupid? If you shout now, he’ll run!”
Wang Jinzhou quickly turned his back, pulling the other two with him.
The five stood casually at a row of computers, blending perfectly into the crowd waiting to log off.
This was the composure and calm of old street hustlers.
Wang Jinzhou glanced at Chen Fan walking toward the counter and frowned. “That guy is tall and strong. He looks tough. Are you guys confident?”
The square-faced youth sneered confidently. “Don’t worry, Brother Zhou, with guys like him, even if we hit him a hundred times, or at least ten, we can handle it easily. He’s nothing.”
“This Chen kid, no matter how big and strong, is just a fancy pillow—soft as silk. He’ll be begging us on his knees soon enough. Rest assured, Brother Zhou.”
“Yeah, there’s no one we can’t handle!”
The other two young men nodded in agreement.
Chu Dawang glanced behind to make sure Chen Fan hadn’t noticed them, then released the square-faced youth and pulled his other two henchmen close, whispering, “Once Chen Fan leaves the internet café, follow him. Pick a quiet spot to act. Wear masks and hats before attacking—don’t let him see your faces. Also, be gentle.”
“Got it.”
“Okay, Brother Chu.”
The three, who had just been startled, quickly nodded and settled down to patiently wait for their target.
At the counter, Chen Fan saw the attendant was the same tall, blonde-haired, well-endowed girl from yesterday. His gaze fixed precisely on her figure—her cleavage and long legs.
With the appreciation of a refined gentleman, he tapped the counter, saying, “Beautiful, log me off!”
Wu Wanrou, who was playing with her phone, looked up and was momentarily captivated by Chen Fan’s handsome face, just like the readers. Shyly, she took the card to settle his bill.
“Handsome guy, just a moment!”

At that moment, Wu Wanrou suddenly realized this handsome guy was none other than Chen Fan, her good friend’s half-brother.
She glanced discreetly toward the hall and spotted Chu Dawang and his gang lurking nearby.
Should she warn the handsome guy?
If she didn’t, what if he got disfigured?
But if she did, would that be betraying her friend?
Chen Fan didn’t notice Wu Wanrou’s odd behavior as he received the money, but her finger briefly scratched his palm.
Hmm?
He gave the bare-faced Wu Wanrou, who was already a solid 85 on her natural beauty scale, a strange look.
“No thanks!”
He tossed the two words aside and strode out.
Wu Wanrou was left sitting on the sofa, both embarrassed and annoyed at being misunderstood.
Outside the internet café.
Just as Chen Fan put the money in his pocket, he sensed something amiss.
Taking the money out again, he found a note tucked inside.
“Someone’s coming to beat you up. Run!”
The note was from the loyal and righteous Wu Wanrou.
Reading it, Chen Fan finally realized he had misjudged the busty attendant.
“Such a kind heart—maybe it wouldn’t hurt to go on a date sometime!”
He thanked the busty girl silently, calmly pocketed the note and money.
As he bent over to unlock his bike, he spotted the three square-faced youths following him out of the café.
Chen Fan calmly unlocked the bike, mounted, and began to pedal slowly ahead.
The three henchmen quickened their pace, donning black cloth masks.
Wang Jinzhou, standing by the café’s entrance, watched them go and said worriedly, “Didn’t expect Chen Fan to be so big and strong. Are Azheng and the others really up to this?”
Chu Dawang laughed carelessly, “Like I said, no matter how tough something is, it can’t stand against numbers. Two hands can’t beat several. Besides, Azheng and the boys are notorious fighters in the countryside. Those muscles come from hard work. The three of them will easily handle this pampered city kid.”
Meanwhile, pedaling leisurely, Chen Fan confirmed the three were following him and suddenly braked sharply, pretending to need to pee in a nearby alley.
The three were startled but then their eyes gleamed. They had been hesitating about where to strike, but now the opportunity had come!
“Kai and I go in. A Le, you watch outside!”
Zhang Zheng whispered, pulling a wooden club from his thick coat.
On the left stood a slightly chubby round-faced youth, Li Le, clutching a club at the alley entrance.
On the right, the dark-skinned Hu Kai gripped his club tightly as he followed in.
As Zhang Zheng and Hu Kai entered the dim alley, they saw only some scattered junk and no sign of Chen Fan.
Had he run?
Just as they puzzled and moved further in, Chen Fan suddenly appeared from the shadows, sneering.
“You actually followed me. But where’s the third? Shouldn’t you be all together?”
Zhang Zheng’s face darkened instantly at Chen Fan’s disdainful tone. He raised his club and said coldly, “Chen Fan, you messed with the wrong people. Someone paid us to teach you a lesson. If you don’t want to suffer...”
“Suffer some bruises and wounds.”
“Right, if you don’t want to suffer, just let me and my brothers hit you a few times. Once you’re bruised, we’ll stop. How about it?”
Zhang Zheng spoke as if negotiating. He didn’t want things to get out of hand—fists don’t discriminate, and Chen Fan was still a student. If they seriously hurt him, they’d probably get caught.
Hu Kai held his club arrogantly and threatened, “Chen Fan, we want money, not your life. Just lie down and take a few hits from us. We’ll let you go. Don’t be ungrateful!”
Chen Fan crossed his arms and laughed mockingly.
“No guts, no guts, and you’re still negotiating with me? How embarrassing to be out here on the streets like this.”
“Damn it... toast... toast... to hell with your toast, Kai, get him!”
Zhang Zheng, frustrated by his lack of education, turned red with anger and charged forward with Hu Kai.
They expected Chen Fan to run or dodge, ready to pursue relentlessly.
But the next moment, Chen Fan charged at them barehanded.

“You little bastard, you’re asking for it!”
“Get him!”
Zhang Zheng and Hu Kai swung their clubs at him.
Bang! Bang!
The sound of wood striking flesh echoed in the narrow alley.
In an instant, two club shafts snapped in half and flew through the air in arcs.
The fierce expressions on Zhang Zheng and Hu Kai’s faces froze instantly, as if paralyzed by a spell.
They were dumbfounded by the sudden scene before them.
Their arrogance vanished without a trace, replaced only by shock.
Breaking wooden clubs barehanded... how the hell did he do that?
Before they could recover, Chen Fan clenched his fists and grinned fiercely, moving forward.
Bang! Bang!
Two dull thuds followed.
Zhang Zheng and Hu Kai saw stars, their bodies suddenly lightened and fell heavily to the ground. Their vision levelled with the pavement.
Dazed and barely conscious, they felt their heads about to split. They tried to get up but blacked out completely.
“Damn, if I hadn’t held back, I almost cracked your heads!”
Chen Fan shook his hands, grimacing at the scraped bones on his palms.
He recalled how earlier that day, while installing surveillance cameras, he had casually hammered a dent into the wall and realized his body had undergone a dramatic transformation. His strength had grown astonishingly.
He reckoned that if he went all out, he could probably kill a sow with three punches. Maybe he’d test that when he had the cash.
Just then, Li Le arrived, saw the two unconscious men, and panicked. Without a word, he turned and ran.
Chen Fan sprinted after him, grabbed him, and executed a powerful over-the-shoulder throw.
Bang!
Li Le lost consciousness.
One down, three to go.
Chen Fan piled the three up and casually pinched the least injured Li Le’s finger until he woke up in pain.
“Brother, big brother, don’t kill me, I...”
“Shut up!”
Kneeling, Li Le was immediately silenced by fear.
Chen Fan pulled a phone from his pocket, gripped Li Le’s wrist, and squeezed hard, saying, “Whoever sent you to ambush me, I’ll call them right now. When I connect, you do exactly as I say. One wrong word and you’re done.”
“Okay, big brother!”
...
Outside Black Forest Internet Café.
Wang Jinzhou sat on a motorcycle, eyes glued to his phone.
Chu Dawang, drinking beer and tapping the bottle on the railing, laughed, “Look at you, acting all cool. Azheng and the others can handle five against three without losing. What’s a little Chen Fan to be afraid of?
If it weren’t to train them and get them used to the city scene, Chen Fan’s just a spoiled city brat—I could take on three of him myself!”
“Cut it out. Every time we fight, I’m the one up front. You see a crowd and you run faster than a rabbit’s father.”
While they bickered, Wang Jinzhou’s phone suddenly rang.
“Hello, A Le!”
“Brother Zhou, Chen Fan is down. We’re in the alley behind the internet café, next to Huihui Clothing Store!”
Hearing the good news from Li Le, Chu Dawang snatched the phone. “Is he badly hurt?”
“Not really, just a few hits and some scrapes on his face.”
“Well done! Nice job! Azheng and the others, hold tight. We’re coming. Don’t let that kid escape!”
After hanging up, Wang Jinzhou finally breathed easier and sped away on the motorcycle with Chu Dawang.
Inside the café, Wu Wanrou silently watched the two, already knowing Chen Fan’s fate from their gleeful expressions.
“The handsome guy’s probably disfigured now. Huahua’s ruthless—she’d even go after her own sister-in-law’s brother. Too bad I met him too late; if he weren’t disfigured, I wouldn’t mind going on a date with him.”
