If this was supposed to be a joke, Qin Changsheng didn't find it funny at all.

What he had expected to see was a luxurious two-story villa spanning several hundred square meters, but reality presented him with a single door standing alone in an empty lot.

This place was far from the center of the town. The surroundings were desolate, devoid of even a decent patch of grass; it was practically a wasteland.

Standing in this wasteland was a door made of red wood, exquisitely crafted, with carved patterns running along its edges, and an ornate, gold-and-silver-inlaid skull carved right in the center.

Yet, no matter how intricately carved it was, the thing was still just a door.

What happened to the promised duplex mega-villa?!

Could it be that real estate sales here also played that trick where the actual product didn't match the advertisement? But even if it didn't match, there should at least be a house! What was the deal with just leaving a door here? Were they expected to live out in the open?

Qin Changsheng's mind was full of question marks, hoping inwardly that the man in glasses standing before him would tell him he had come to the wrong place.

However, the man in glasses simply smiled with utter confidence, gestured toward the door, and articulated clearly, "Respected Chosen Ones, this is the Residence of Hope."

"Are you kidding me?!" Qin Changsheng finally couldn't help but shout. "What happened to the double-story villa? And what about the underground duplex design? You haven't even built the ground floor!"

Good grief, he never expected to encounter a fraudulent real estate merchant here; it made Qin Changsheng's blood pressure spike.

Throwing sixteen thousand into the water would at least make a splash! He wouldn't let this rest until he got an explanation today!

The man in glasses remained unruffled and bowed deeply to Qin Changsheng.

"Bowing won't help! If you don't hand over the property today, you're going to cough up every single one of my points!" Qin Changsheng's residual anger hadn't subsided.

"You misunderstand." The man in glasses straightened up and said respectfully, "I apologize for not explaining it clearly to you. How about this? If you open this door, everything will become clear."

"Open this door?" Qin Changsheng looked suspiciously at the door before him. "It's just a door. I can see that there's just a wasteland behind it without opening it. I'm not blind."

"Please trust me." The man in glasses spoke with utmost sincerity. "Just open the door."

Though he had no idea what game this fellow was playing, Qin Changsheng still hesitantly reached out his hand toward the door.

The moment he extended his hand, he felt something was amiss. There was neither a keyhole nor a doorknob on this door—how was one supposed to open it?

Before Qin Changsheng could ponder further, his outstretched palm suddenly felt a powerful suction force.

Before he could react, his fingers were abruptly sucked directly into the open mouth of the skull carved on the door's surface.

Immediately after, with a sharp snap, the skull's wide mouth slammed shut!

"Ah, ah, ah—!!!"

A wave of intense pain struck, causing Qin Changsheng to scream out involuntarily.

He never could have imagined that his hand would suddenly be bitten by a door!

The skull clamped down viciously on Qin Changsheng's fingers, blood splashing everywhere. The grip felt as though it was about to snap his fingers in half, and no matter how hard he pulled, he couldn't yank his hand free.

Seeing this, the others behind Qin Changsheng turned pale. Cao Mengmeng was the first to rush forward, grabbing Qin Changsheng's arm and trying to pull him back.

"Don't pull! Don't pull! You're going to pull it off!" Qin Changsheng was in so much pain tears welled up in his eyes, and he bit his lip hard enough to draw blood.

Seeing that she couldn't pull him out, Cao Mengmeng turned and grabbed the collar of the man in glasses. "You bastard! Are you plotting against us?!"

The expression of the man in glasses remained unchanged, maintaining his smile. "Please don't be impatient, everyone. Look, isn't it over?"

"Over?" Cao Mengmeng turned back, unconvinced.

Just at that moment, Qin Changsheng suddenly felt the pressure on his hand lighten. With a hard yank, he fell backward onto the ground.

The skull had finally let go!

Dong Huan and Wu Yutong hurried over to help him up. Dong Huan, the rugged man from the Northeast, was surprisingly attentive; he picked up Qin Changsheng's previously bitten hand and began rubbing and massaging it. "Brother, let me see—are your fingers still there? Do you need a band-aid?"

As Dong Huan looked at Qin Changsheng's hand, his expression grew increasingly strange.

"What is it?" Qin Changsheng hadn't yet recovered from the pain; he perplexedly pulled his hand away from Dong Huan and brought it before his eyes to inspect.

At a single glance, he froze.

How could this be... how could this be...

How could there be nothing at all?!

On the palm that had just been bitten by the skull with blood splashing everywhere, not even the tiniest scratch could be found. His palm was smooth and plump, without a single trace of blood.

What was going on?

Qin Changsheng rubbed his eyes, thinking his vision was playing tricks on him.

He looked back at the skull on the door, only to find that it looked exactly as it had before—mouth wide open, motionless, completely free of any blood.

Qin Changsheng was stunned. Everyone around had clearly witnessed him being bitten just now; it definitely wasn't his illusion or imagination.

If so, where had the wounds from the bite gone?

At that moment, the man in glasses, having been released by Cao Mengmeng, calmly straightened his clothes and stepped forward. "That was just a matter of performing your identity registration."

"Identity registration?" Qin Changsheng furrowed his brows in confusion.

"That's right." The man in glasses nodded. "From now on, this Residence of Hope officially belongs to you. Please spread your palm and press it against the door."

Qin Changsheng looked at the large door before him with lingering fear, terrified that his hand might get bitten by the skull again.

The man in glasses chuckled softly. "Don't be afraid. The registration is already complete; it won't bite you anymore."

"Easy for you to say, you weren't the one who got bitten," Qin Changsheng retorted, but he nevertheless pressed his hand against the door.

The moment his palm made contact with the door's surface, Qin Changsheng instantly felt a powerful surge of energy flow from the door into his body.

It felt as though a tempest was sweeping through his entire being, sending Qin Changsheng's spirit soaring into the heavens.

A vast expanse suddenly flashed before his eyes. Qin Changsheng saw himself standing on a mountain cliff, below which huge waves crashed against the rocks, and above which dark clouds loomed overhead.

A raging storm swirled around him, making every step forward impossible.

And not far away on the ocean surface, a colossal tornado was slowly grinding toward him...

"Whoosh!"

In a flash, the scenery before Qin Changsheng vanished completely.

He shook his head, finding himself once again standing before the skull-adorned door.

What on earth was the scene he had just witnessed?

Qin Changsheng didn't dwell on it for long because he saw a red light ignite within the eyes of the skull on the door.

Immediately following, with a creaking sound, the heavy door slowly swung open.

Qin Changsheng stared in surprise, for a beam of light was actually shining outward from behind the open door.

How could this be?

Qin Changsheng walked around the door frame to look behind it. The area behind was clearly an empty wasteland, pitch black and impossible to see one's hand in front of one's face.

Yet a beam of light genuinely poured out from within the doorway, and being touched by it felt somewhat warm.

Qin Changsheng pulled his head back to the front of the door and realized that the space inside this door and the wasteland outside were two completely isolated worlds!

Stepping through the threshold, what met his eyes was not an empty, desolate wasteland, but an elegant, spacious, and luxuriously decorated foyer!
