Chapter 11: Does Lu Fan really love you, marrying you as he did?
When Lu Fan saw the balance, he was momentarily surprised, but then his mind settled back into calm.
For years, he had stayed by his master’s side. To keep him connected with the world, his master had sent him to study at one of the world’s top universities from a young age—an opportunity even Jiang Rusnow could never reach.
Lu Fan had skipped several grades and was hailed as the youngest prodigy medical student. During his time at school, he conducted multiple research projects and performed highly complex surgeries alongside his mentor, helping to solve many difficult problems.
Later, he declined his mentor’s offer and quietly retired to study with his master in the mountains.
Unlike the senior sister, who was merely a child from a prestigious family sent to study in the mountains and left after a few years without even grasping the basics, Lu Fan was the master’s direct disciple. His medical skills alone were priceless.
Once his name was revealed, even the most powerful figures would respectfully address him as “Teacher.”
He regarded the hundred million as insignificant, but to Jiang Rusnow, it was a staggering shock.
Even though the Jiang family was wealthy, it was absolutely impossible for her to produce one hundred million in liquid funds on the spot.
She was about to launch a new project recently and had just taken out a loan of over a billion from the bank.
Where did Lu Fan, a fatherless and motherless man from the countryside, get such money?
She was about to ask when she noticed the black card’s holder was named Lin Ziyu.
Jiang Rusnow’s first thought was that Lu Fan had betrayed her!
For five years, he had seemed utterly devoted to her, yet at some unknown time, he had gotten involved with Lin Ziyu.
Lu Fan had thought that once she saw the balance, she wouldn’t trouble him anymore. Unexpectedly, the next second, Jiang Rusnow raised her hand and slapped him squarely across the face.
The sharp slap drew all eyes.
Lu Fan stared at her blankly. “Why did you hit me?”
“Shouldn’t I?” Jiang Rusnow’s cheeks flushed with anger, her dark eyes blazing with fury, as if he had committed the gravest betrayal. “Living off the Jiang family’s wealth, yet betraying us behind our backs. How far have you and Lin Ziyu gone? She’s so generous to you that she even gave you a black card.”
The slap didn’t hurt Lu Fan’s face; the pain was in his heart.
The crowd around them whispered and pointed fingers, their words increasingly harsh.
Lu Fan didn’t care at all. He was simply disappointed.
“Miss Jiang, after five years of knowing each other, is this really how you see me?”
Seeing the sadness in his eyes, Jiang Rusnow felt a flicker of unease.
“I wish you weren’t like this, but how do you explain Lin Ziyu’s card in your hand?”
Lu Fan hadn’t been present to open the account himself, so Lin Ziyu had opened it in her name and managed his finances.
Yet, in Jiang Rusnow’s eyes, it looked as if he had committed an unforgivable sin.
Lu Fan’s patience was like a bottle of water—over the years, Jiang Rusnow had been draining it until now, the last drop was gone.
He didn’t want to explain anymore, because no matter what he said, she wouldn’t believe him.
A woman who doesn’t love you will find fault in even your breath.
Suddenly, a clear and bright female voice rang out: “If I want to give, I will give. Do you think I, Lin, am as petty as your Jiang family? Giving twenty thousand a month for living expenses, as if buying Xiao Fan’s life.”
“Xiao Fan.” She actually called him that so affectionately.
Jiang Rusnow pointed sharply at Lin Ziyu. “And you still dare say you have no affair with him?”
Lu Fan looked at her with disappointment. “Then just assume we do.”
He wouldn’t explain anymore.
Lin Ziyu stepped forward and linked her arm with his. “Jiang Rusnow, the man you look down on is a treasure here. If Lu Fan is willing to marry me, I can marry him immediately!”
Though there was no love, Lu Fan was a living saint, and the Lin family would certainly rise several levels with him.
Lu Fan’s face flushed slightly. “Sister Ziyu…”
Lin Ziyu playfully winked at him. Lu Fan knew she was deliberately venting her frustration.
He didn’t care about others’ opinions, but he couldn’t let her be slapped in the face before everyone.
Their locked gazes appeared like flirtation to Jiang Rusnow’s eyes.
She realized that when the exclusive look meant for her was shared with another, jealousy overwhelmed her to the point of madness.
Lin Ziyu said, “If I’d known you were coming to Jiang Corporation to buy a house, I would’ve told you not to bother. It’s just a school district house. My Lin family is no worse than your Jiang family. Come, let’s go see my place and pick whatever you want.”
“All right.”
“I also have fully furnished villas. You and Xiao You can move in this afternoon with your bags packed. I’ll send a few servants over to take care of Xiao You.”
Just as Lu Fan was about to leave, Jiang Rusnow grabbed his wrist.
“Lu Fan, don’t forget—we haven’t finished the procedure yet. You’re still my Jiang Rusnow’s husband!”
Lin Ziyu flicked her golden hair with charm, her luscious red lips curling into a disdainful smile. “Tsk, I’ve seen double standards, but never someone so hypocritical. Who announced on social media last night? You tell everyone you’re divorced, flaunt your new lover, but with Lu Fan, you say you’re not divorced yet. Miss Jiang, with a face this thick, why hasn’t the government studied it for bulletproof armor?”
Lin Ziyu snapped back without blinking.
Jiang Rusnow saw the crowd murmuring around them. Continuing the scene would only make her lose face.
She wouldn’t quarrel like a shrew with Lin Ziyu—was Lu Fan even worth it?
She looked coldly at Lu Fan. “I told you to cut ties with that woman. At least this month, you’re still my Jiang family’s son-in-law. Don’t disgrace me.”
The man who once obeyed her every command now glanced down at her with cold eyes. “Lin Ziyu and I are completely innocent. Sorry, I still need to find a proper school district house. I can’t comply with your demands.”
He pulled his hand free from Jiang Rusnow’s grasp. “Miss Jiang, you see Xiao You as a stain, but to me, she is the most precious treasure in the world. Even without the Jiang family, I will give her the best life possible.”
Lu Fan strode away, leaving Jiang Rusnow’s face flushed and pale, looking miserable.
Zhao Bingbing had just watched the whole drama unfold. She was about to sneer sarcastically when Jiang Rusnow coldly ordered, “Manager, this is my friend. Give her the best discount and help her with the purchase.”
Without caring about Zhao Bingbing’s expression, Jiang Rusnow clicked her high heels and chased after Lu Fan.
Lu Fan had already gotten into the car. Lin Ziyu, seemingly expecting Jiang Rusnow’s arrival, deliberately stayed behind, waiting.
“Miss Lin, the Jiang and Lin families have been rivals for years. Lu Fan is just an ordinary person. You don’t need to drag him into this.”
Lin Ziyu lit a cigarette and blew out a smoke ring toward the sky. “Does Miss Jiang think Xiao Fan is not good enough? Do you think I’m deliberately competing with you by getting close to him?”
“Isn’t that so?”
Heh.
Lin Ziyu smiled softly. “I quite admire Miss Jiang for confidently saying this. Soon, you will realize what a rare treasure your Jiang family has truly missed.”
Jiang Rusnow thought her words were exaggerated and ridiculous.
“Miss Lin, Lu Fan’s heart belongs only to me. Do you think a little benefit would make him switch to the Lin family? Honestly, if you want to compete with me, do it on projects. Don’t choose a loser.”
She believed the card belonged to Lin Ziyu and was just for show.
Everyone knew Lin Ziyu’s lifestyle was questionable; she loved to keep young boys as pets.
This time, she got close to Lu Fan just to spite Jiang Rusnow.
Hearing this, Lin Ziyu smiled as if she heard a joke.
“Miss Jiang, you’re so confident. Have you never wondered why Lu Fan married you? Do you really think he loves you?”
