Chapter 35: The Jiang Family Will Pay for Their Disdain Toward Lu Fan
Upon hearing Lin Ziyu's words, Jiang Ruxue felt as if her head had exploded, leaving her mind a complete blank.
She was still angry at Lu Fan for rejecting her the previous night. In her heart, Lu Fan was nothing more than a destitute country bumpkin. She believed he was merely acting out of temporary spite; after all, he had always loved her so deeply, and she assumed that once his anger subsided, he would inevitably return to her side.
Yet, before she could wait for Lu Fan to turn back, she was met with the news that the Qin family was eager to marry off their precious little princess to him.
Jiang Ruxue could not fathom it. Lu Fan had neither money nor status, and more importantly, once their divorce was finalized, he would be nothing but a man who had been married once before. Would the Qin family really be willing to wed their beloved daughter to a divorced man?
"Miss Lin, I know you don't like me, but there is no need to make up such an outrageous lie."
"A lie? Miss Jiang, you truly do love deceiving yourself, don't you? Setting aside the fact that your Jiang family is blind, let me tell you this: the moment Lu Fan agrees and your divorce papers are in hand, the Qin family will register their marriage with him immediately. Do you believe me?"
Jiang Ruxue tried hard to maintain a composed expression. "I don't believe it. That's impossible."
"Then let us wait and see whether Lu Fan will be tempted." Lin Ziyu swept a disdainful glance over her. "Don't come crying to anyone when that time comes. Miss Jiang, looking down on Lu Fan is the most foolish thing your family has ever done, and you will pay the price for your arrogance."
At this moment, although Jiang Ruxue felt something was wrong, she did not fully grasp the implications of Lin Ziyu's words, assuming she was merely trying to provoke her. She sat back down, feeling utterly lost, her fingernails digging deep into her palms without her even realizing it.
Meanwhile, Lu Fan had been pulled into a room by Qin An'an. He was rarely this close to a woman. Even his senior sister made him feel uncomfortable, let alone a stranger with whom he had no connection. His ears turned bright red immediately.
He pulled away from the young girl's grasp and greeted the members of the Qin family.
"Master Qin looks better with each passing day."
"That is all thanks to your medicine, Mr. Lu. You are truly a miracle doctor of our time! Would it be possible to move up the next acupuncture session?"
Lu Fan had been recovering well over the last two days, so he did not refuse. "I will come to the Qin residence tomorrow."
"Your word is enough to satisfy me."
Qin An'an, standing to the side, latched onto him again. "Brother Miracle Doctor, what method did you use to make my grandmother look so young?"
"A superior-grade Beauty Pill," Lu Fan replied, gently brushing her hand away.
But the girl was like a piece of taffy; no sooner had he pushed her off than she clung to him again.
"Do you have any more? My grandmother looks even younger than my mother now. If they walk together, people will definitely misunderstand! Brother Miracle Doctor, please, just give one to my mother..."
Mrs. Qin tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, appearing bashful. "An'an has been mischievous since she was little. Please don't be angry, Mr. Lu."
"Not at all. Miss Qin, it is not that I refuse to give you one, but this Beauty Pill requires superior-grade medicinal herbs to refine. Even a clever housewife cannot cook without rice. You can beg me all you want, but I truly have no way to provide it."
Lu Fan's words caused a flash of insight to cross Master Qin's eyes. He had long suspected that Lu Fan was extraordinary and certainly not an ordinary person. From this single sentence, he could deduce that Lu Fan was actually capable of alchemy!
One had to realize that even a low-level alchemist was considered a top-tier talent in their country.
"Mr. Lu, are you an alchemist?" he asked tentatively.
Lu Fan replied indifferently, "I know a thing or two."
