Chapter Nineteen: The Arrival of the Most Perfect Pink Fairy Lady
As night silently descended, after dinner, Ling Feng, as usual, accompanied several girls in the living room, leisurely chatting. The girls were sharing with Ling Feng the amusing events that had happened during the days he had been away. Compared to yesterday, there was one more person today—Mei, who had finally finished her complex company affairs.
It was worth noting that Mei was the very supervisor of the operations department, the one Ling Feng had previously described as someone he could place absolute trust in. This was why Mei was often so busy that she barely had time to go home, all due to Ling Feng, the “ruthless capitalist,” constantly pushing her to her limits. The frustrating part was that the young lady actually enjoyed being pushed like this, leaving one at a loss for words.
“Ah, how I long to embrace.
The future breaking out of shades from the past.
Still ablaze...”
At that moment, Ling Feng’s device suddenly emitted a crisp sound, shattering the warm tranquility of the living room. Upon hearing the ringtone, Ling Feng paused briefly, then a delighted expression appeared on his face. This ringtone was specially set for a certain person, though he hadn’t expected the call to come at this time, which took him by surprise.
Ling Feng quickly answered the video call. The next instant, he felt as if a hundred flowers had blossomed before his eyes; his vision suddenly brightened. The reason for this transformation was none other than the appearance on the video screen of an exquisitely beautiful girl, dazzling and enchanting like a scattering of flying petals.
“Hi there♪, Xiao Feng, long time no see, did you miss me?♪♪”
The pink-haired girl seemed to embody all the world’s beauty combined. The moment she smiled, the beautiful moonlight behind her dimmed slightly, becoming merely a backdrop to her radiance.
“Sister Aili, long time no see.” Ling Feng could hardly conceal his excitement; indeed, it had been a long while since he last saw his elder sister, Aili Xia.
“Hmph hmph♪” As if satisfied with Ling Feng’s reaction, the girl’s eyes narrowed into crescent moons, letting out two charming hums that carried a playful charm, quickening the heartbeat.
Just as Aili Xia was about to say more, several girls clustered and squeezed into the frame beside Ling Feng.
“Oh! It’s Xi’er, Mei, Bronya, and the adorable Kiana! You’re all here too!” Aili Xia greeted them with surprise and joy.
However, the girls’ faces didn’t show the kind of delight expected upon seeing a friend; instead, they all instinctively wore wary expressions, as if bracing themselves against an unknown threat.
Little Xi’er even shrank timidly into Ling Feng’s embrace, clearly indicating that Aili Xia hadn’t left the best impression on them.
Yet, out of courtesy among friends, they still greeted Aili Xia, though the nervous and cautious look on their faces never quite faded.
“Ahem,” sensing the awkward atmosphere, Ling Feng cleared his throat twice and asked, “Sister Aili, why are you calling me at this time?”
“Hmm~.” Aili Xia’s face showed a hurt expression as she clutched her chest, seeming heartbroken. “Xiao Feng, are you annoyed that I’m disturbing you all?”
Feigning wiping away tears and choking back sobs, she appeared on the verge of bursting into tears at any moment—her acting skills nothing short of masterful.
“Of course not.” Ling Feng quickly waved his hand to deny. He knew well that if he didn’t soothe Aili Xia when she put on this act, she could easily perform an entire Korean drama for him.
“There is no one in this world who would be annoyed by the most perfect little pink fairy lady who is beautiful, kind, generous, elegant, gentle, pure, cheerful, virtuous, lively, straightforward, adorable, dignified, tender, virtuous, and considerate! Amen~!!”
Ling Feng lavished her with praise, ending with a sincere gesture of prayer.
Hearing his compliments, Aili Xia’s charming face instantly blossomed into a radiant smile, like a brilliantly blooming flower in spring—bright and captivating.
Yet, her gaze toward Ling Feng carried a deeper meaning, as if hiding an intriguing secret she was eager to share, but was restraining herself.
“Hehe! Let’s not talk about that now. Xiao Feng, want to guess who Sister Aili is with right now?”
After speaking, Aili Xia looked at Ling Feng expectantly, eyes sparkling like stars in the night sky, silently urging him to guess the answer.
Seeing her like this, Ling Feng was momentarily stunned, then his mind quickly began to ponder.
In a flash, he realized Sister Aili must have met an acquaintance during her travels, and judging by her tone, it seemed she knew this person herself.
However, since he had met quite a few people outside of Shenzhou, he wondered who exactly Aili had encountered.
Meeting Aili Xia’s expectant gaze, Ling Feng fell into deep thought. His eyes showed concentration as a mental movie played, recalling everyone he had met beyond Shenzhou.
After a long moment, he finally shook his head with a wry smile and said, “Sister Aili, I can’t guess. Can you give me a hint?”
Since Aili Xia began her global journey, half a year had passed.
During this long stretch, their contact had dwindled increasingly. The few calls they had were mostly initiated by Ling Feng.
Each time, Aili Xia seemed to be in a hurry, always saying little before abruptly ending the call.
After every call ended, Ling Feng would stare blankly at his phone, a wave of disappointment swelling within—a feeling as if an invisible chasm was growing between two once inseparable souls.
It seemed that with growing age, the elder sister who had once cared for him with such devotion was gradually drifting away without either realizing it.
Ling Feng always cherished those close to him deeply. From the heart, he didn’t want to grow distant from them, yet precisely because of this care, he chose to respect the decisions they made.
Indeed, Sister Aili had her own life, and he had grown up; he couldn’t always expect her to care for him as before.
In his eyes, perhaps Aili’s feelings were much like his own previous thoughts—that Xi’er had grown up and should maintain some distance from him.
Likewise, she probably felt he had grown up and that, as a boy, he should keep an appropriate distance from his sister.
Because of this, despite the sadness in his heart, Ling Feng chose to respect “Aili Xia’s wishes” and gradually reduced their contact.
