Chapter 19: Soul Extinction! I Beg You, Stop Me!
There was no other choice—the commotion between the two had grown far too loud. Though the damage was minimal, the insult was undeniable! After such antics, even the ancestral spirits of the Qingyun Sect, who had rested underground for centuries, could no longer tolerate it.
From the tombs, wisps of azure smoke rose, and one by one, figures materialized before Ye Changsheng.
“Stop this at once!” a fierce voice thundered.
Hearing the command, Ye Changsheng slowly lifted his head, and the system interface promptly appeared before him.
The twelve figures were the souls of the deceased, the masters of these twelve graves—the twelve venerable ancestors of the Qingyun Sect.
“Oh? How did you all come out?” Ye Changsheng sneered coldly.
Su Qinqin, unable to see them, looked up curiously. “Changsheng, who are you talking to?”
With a snap of his fingers, Ye Changsheng sent a streak of light into her brow.
“Ah! What the hell!” Su Qinqin exclaimed, startled.
“You said it right—they really are ghosts!” Ye Changsheng chuckled.
The twelve ancestors scowled deeply and strode forward, pointing at Ye Changsheng with fury.
“You insolent brat! What nonsense are you spouting here? We are not ghosts—we are the heroic spirits of the Qingyun Sect!”
Ye Changsheng rolled his eyes and retorted, “Heroic spirits? Heroic your mother! Ghosts are ghosts—why the need to add all these fancy titles? Dead is dead, yet you still want to keep up appearances.”
The seventh ancestor gritted his teeth and snapped, “Impudent traitor! You wear the robes of the Qingyun Sect and call yourself a disciple, yet you dare speak to us this way? I think you’ve rebelled!”
Ye Changsheng smiled faintly. “Sorry to disappoint. We’re not part of Qingyun Sect. In fact, we have a grudge against you.”
“A grudge?” they echoed.
“Exactly! I had no intention of coming here, but your people chased me too relentlessly. I had no choice but to come.”
“Since you’re here, you might as well dig up the ancestral tombs, right?”
The twelfth ancestor roared, “Brat, how dare you!”
“Why wouldn’t I dare? Not only do I dare, I’ll be the first to dig up yours.”
Ye Changsheng wasted no words. Grabbing his soul-extracting shovel, he strode up to the twelfth ancestor’s grave and began digging immediately.
“Stop right there, boy!” the twelve ancestors stamped their feet in desperation.
One ancestor, with his hands clasped behind his back, snorted coldly. “When did you all become so hesitant? A mere elixir cultivator like this boy is no match for us, even in death.”
“Exactly! Let’s attack together!”
At that moment, all twelve ancestors launched themselves at Ye Changsheng.
“Wait, did I tell you to move?” Ye Changsheng snapped, picking up the Soul-Calming Gong and striking it sharply.
At the clang, the twelve ancestors simultaneously collapsed to the ground, faces grimacing in displeasure.
“What kind of treasure is this black gong? It’s truly uncanny!” the first ancestor gasped, horrified.
This ancestor had been a powerful Earth Spirit in life and could clearly feel the terrifying suppression emanating from the gong—a crushing oppression over the soul.
Under its sound, any spirit could only submit.
“You brat, stop pretending!” the twelfth ancestor shouted, unconvinced, and lunged forward again.
“If you insist on courting death, I’ll send you on your way,” Ye Changsheng said, raising his shovel and swinging it fiercely.
The instant the shovel struck, ancient runes flared to life, swirling around it.
“What is this?” someone asked.
Before the words left his mouth, the runes wove themselves into chains.
“Bind!”
At Ye Changsheng’s command, the chains tightened swiftly, restraining the twelve ancestors’ spectral forms with unyielding force.
As the bonds locked, excruciating pain overwhelmed them.
No matter how powerful their souls had been in life, now trapped in Ye Changsheng’s grasp, they were helpless lambs awaiting slaughter.
“Ahhhh... it hurts! It hurts so much!” one ancestor wailed.
Originally wanting to endure for the sake of pride, the agony was too intense; his teeth ground to pieces before he could bear no more.
“You like barking like a dog, don’t you? Today, I’ll grant your wish—bark till you’re satisfied.”
His agonized howls echoed through the area, while the other eleven ancestors watched grimly, unwilling to intervene.
“That’s enough. Time to move on,” Ye Changsheng declared, ready to strike again.
“Wait, fellow traveler!” the eleventh ancestor pleaded.
Ye Changsheng glanced at him coldly. “What do you want?”
“I was his master. He’s already dead—only this remnant soul remains. Could you grant me some respect...?”
Ye Changsheng said nothing, clenching his fist and crushing the ancestor’s soul outright.
The onlookers were stunned as the twelfth ancestor’s soul dissipated instantly.
Glancing back at the man, Ye Changsheng chuckled lightly. “Sorry, but I don’t give the dead any respect.”
The eleventh ancestor fell silent, trembling violently before collapsing.
He never imagined that his lifetime of honor would be sullied so disgracefully by his descendants after death.
Unable to curse Ye Changsheng, he could only vent his frustration on others.
“Is the current sect leader of Qingyun Sect an idiot? No one noticed when a stranger was desecrating the ancestral tombs?”
“And why pick a fight with this living hellspawn?”
Ye Changsheng looked at them with a faint smile.
“Actually, I mean no real harm.”
No harm? Was that supposed to be kindness? If they hadn’t just witnessed Ye Changsheng crush the twelfth ancestor’s soul barehanded, they might have believed him.
“I’m just venting my anger. You all just watch quietly.”
For now, to preserve their remaining souls, they could only obediently watch.
In full view of all, Ye Changsheng dug up the twelfth ancestor’s remains.
Though only skeletal fragments remained, Ye Changsheng showed no mercy—he hung the bones in midair and lashed them fiercely with a whip.
“Whipping the corpse! This boy is truly ruthless!”
“How does he know I have no parents? What kind of ghostly song is this? ‘Only Mom is Good in the World’...”
“Wait, is he urinating on my corpse? Right into my mouth!”
“He actually forced me into a ghost marriage with a female dog! My heavens! I was single all my life, but I never had such a fetish!”
“Ouch! This guy burned my bones to ash, made chalk out of them, and wrote that I’m not human...”
“Hey, buddy, I’m dead already and you still castrated me?”
The remaining eleven ancestors stood there, tears streaming down their faces.
The more distressed they were, the happier Ye Changsheng became.
After all, these spirits dared only to complain—they would never dare to act.
At that moment, Ye Changsheng felt like shouting out loud:
“Please, someone stop me!”
