Chapter Twenty-Seven: Good Brothers
Jiang Ke was surprised that no one from the Jiang family had come tonight; she figured it was because she hadn't won the competition and they felt it was a disgrace. She didn't even want to take out her phone, knowing that the internet must be flooded with trending topics about them.
That same evening, many viral images of the "insanely wealthy" guests appeared online. It wasn't just Jiang Xian and her group; Jiang Ke’s group was featured too, with some even turned into memes. Throughout the night, the prestige of the variety show *Insanely Wealthy* continued to climb. The top twenty trending topics were dominated by the show—"High-Society Feast," "The Three Siblings of the Elite Family"—all carrying the label of "wealthy."
The banquet lasted until 11:00 PM. Once the livestream ended, Liu Shenghai told everyone to go and get some rest.
The next day, the livestream started promptly at 8:00 AM. As soon as it went live, the number of viewers hit a new high, with over a million people flooding into the room instantly. Liu Shenghai was terrified that the stream might be blocked or that the network would crash and boot everyone out, so he kept a close eye on the feed, watching for anything amiss.
[I followed the trending topics here; I heard this show is amazing!]
[The top twenty trends last night were all about this show. I watch a lot of variety programs, but one this interesting is rare. I had to come see it.]
[I actually wanted to watch *Extreme Escape*, and I'm watching it right now. Director Liu, did you forget you have another show called *Extreme Escape*? There are only a few dozen people watching that one!]
[I'm a guest on *Extreme Escape*. We’re currently hiding in a cave, eating wild game, and watching this livestream. It’s pretty great. We just have to hold out for five days. I advise the person above not to meddle in others' business.]
[Exactly. We're busy learning what the lives of the rich are like. Don't interfere; once we get out of here, we'll be 'hundred-yuan households' (prosperous).]
[Laughing to death, the guests from *Extreme Escape* are all here watching the stream.]
Just as breakfast finished, a staff member handed Jiang Xian a task card. After opening it, she saw that all guests were required to go shopping for supplies after breakfast and then deliver them to a mountain village.
Stepping out of the castle, a sightseeing cart was already waiting. As she boarded, Lai bowed and said, "Lai will be waiting at the castle for Miss Jiang’s return."
The cart dropped Jiang Xian off at the manor entrance, where she arrived almost simultaneously with Jiang Ke and Rong Fan. The others were already waiting.
"Good morning, everyone. I believe you all saw how explosive our show became on your phones last night."
"After the banquet ended last night, the guests who attended sponsored our program to varying degrees. Today’s task is for you to take the funds provided by these sponsors and go shopping. The items you purchase will be delivered by our guests to a mountain village over a hundred kilometers away."
This hadn't been the original plan for today. He hadn't expected anyone to offer sponsorships last night, but since people had, and the amounts were substantial, he decided it was better to deliver a batch of supplies to a nearby mountain region first.
Viewers in the livestream were moved by this.
[Wuhu, I have to be a fan of this show. Honestly, what other variety show does this? They even turned off gift donations because they were afraid we’d spend money!]
[I’m not just a fan of the guests, I’m a fan of the director. The director probably went out and pulled those sponsorships himself last night, especially since it seemed like only Jiang Xian was willing to spend money yesterday.]
[I think it's great to have more variety shows like this in the entertainment industry. It's much more meaningful than others. It breaks tradition; it's not just about making the participants money, but mutual achievement—one side gets the funds, the other gets the reputation. It's a perfect combination.]
Watching the comments, Yang Feng couldn't help but give Liu Shenghai a thumbs up. His arrangement was truly spot on!
"We're going today? Wasn't it said we would just donate later?" Li Jiale was reluctant. Those places were filthy, and the people were dirty. Couldn't they just send the money? Why did they have to go personally?
"The mountain region we are supporting today is not the one we originally discussed. Furthermore, the money for today’s shopping was sponsored by the guests who attended the banquet last night. The money from everyone else will be sent to a different mountain region after the show ends. There isn't just one mountain region in this world."
With the director having spoken, Li Jiale had no choice but to comply. The group boarded the shuttle bus prepared by the production team to head out for supplies.
Nuonuo also joined the guests on the bus, wearing her microphone. Seeing Nuonuo made Jiang Ke feel stifled; she disliked her from the bottom of her heart. Last night, since she never had a viral moment of her own sleeping face, she had specifically gone back to watch the replays. She saw that Nuonuo had only filmed the male guests sleeping and introduced everyone’s living quarters, completely ignoring the female guests. All her preparations had been in vain.
"Hello everyone, I’m Nuonuo. Now, there’s a small issue: if we shop as a massive group, it might take too long and it’s easy to miss things. So, we need to split into groups for shopping. I have slips of paper in different colors; those who draw the same color will be in a group."
As she spoke, Nuonuo brought out a sealed box.
"Can’t we choose our own groups?" Li Jiale questioned. What if they drew lots and ended up in a group they didn't want?
"Exactly, I think picking our own groups would be better," Lai Bingfu agreed.
"No, it has to be decided by drawing lots." Nuonuo shook the box a few times. "Everyone, who wants to go first?"
"I'll go." Whether now or later, it had to be done.
Nuonuo held the box out to Li Jiale. Li Jiale reached in and pulled out a white slip. Jiang Ke followed suit and pulled a yellow one. Clearly, they were not in the same group.
Nuonuo went down the line, and everyone drew a slip.
"Alright, our groups are set. I wonder if these are the teams you had in mind!"
Looking at the white slip in her hand, then at the white slips held by Li Jiale and Lai Bingfu, Jiang Xian realized the three of them were a team. She didn't need to think hard to know what Li Jiale and Lai Bingfu would do—the most likely outcome was that they would isolate her.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ke and Rong Fan both had yellow slips, while Zheng Jin and Sheng Ya had green ones.
[This grouping is interesting. Zheng Jin must be the happiest, being with Sheng Ya.]
[Li Jiale and Lai Bingfu don't like Jiang Xian at all. With the three of them in one group, they’re bound to fight constantly!]
[The couple I ship are in the same team! It seems Xiao Ke and Young Master Rong are truly fated.]
"Jiang Daxian, how about we switch? Those two will definitely try to stir up trouble." Although he really wanted to be in a group with his goddess, he knew that if Jiang Xian was grouped with Li Jiale and Lai Bingfu, she would definitely be bullied.
Regardless of brotherhood, he still owed her for yesterday, when she hadn't hesitated to add three professional anglers to his and Sheng Ya’s team. She was a good friend, and he couldn't just stand by while she was in trouble.
Zheng Jin’s offer touched Jiang Xian; her money yesterday hadn't been spent in vain!
However, did she really look like such an easy target?
