Chapter 63 I Know You Are Still Conscious
The ninety-degree cliff felt as flat as ground beneath Li Xun's feet.
This was a basic application of chakra. Years ago, Li Xun had already mastered the training of walking on water and climbing trees.
Li Xun moved rapidly up the cliff face. As he approached the summit, the thunderous roar of a waterfall suddenly echoed in his ears.
His heart gave a jolt, and Li Xun felt a fresh surge of strength within him. He accelerated his pace, leaped powerfully near the top, and vaulted over the edge.
As he stood atop the cliff, a waterfall roughly two hundred meters high and twenty meters wide came into view. This cascade looked like a ladder connecting heaven and earth, stretching all the way from the valley floor up to the firmament.
Gazing at this scenery, Li Xun's weary mind was somewhat soothed.
"Waterfall, deep pool, and reef rocks. This must be the place." Li Xun looked around, nodding when he spotted the reef opposite the waterfall.
A mere cliff of reef rocks dozens of meters high was simply not enough to obstruct Li Xun's progress.
Yet when he stood upon the reef and looked at the waterfall across from him, he found himself in a dilemma. He possessed neither Tang Hao's might to reverse the waterfall nor Tang San's Godly Grappling Claw...
I can only use the clumsiest method... Li Xun pondered inwardly.
Li Xun formed hand seals with both hands, circulating his soul power and chakra. Several saplings sprouted from the reef, then intertwined and rapidly extended toward the waterfall.
He intended to use plants to construct a wooden bridge.
Li Xun's third soul ring was the Azure Vine, whose attribute was extension. As long as his soul power output remained continuous, the plants he spawned would keep extending outward.
Of course, given his current level of ability, the number of trees he could control simultaneously was still quite limited.
Though Li Xun's idea was sound, the distance between the reef and the waterfall was simply too great. While the bridge could reach the front of the waterfall, it lacked load-bearing support and would easily be battered to collapse by the two-hundred-meter-high torrent.
With no other choice.
Li Xun had to return to the base of the reef and build load-bearing pillars piece by piece.
"Finally finished."
Gazing at the arched bridge that seemed to connect with the waterfall, Li Xun let out a breath of relief.
Standing at the front end of the arched bridge to feel the sheer impact of the plummeting water, Li Xun wiped the droplets from his face.
His current position was level with the reef; once he crossed the waterfall right before him, he would reach the cave Tang Hao had prepared for A Yin.
"The current is too fierce. I must first use plants to divert the water and expose the cave entrance." Li Xun was currently hanging dozens of meters in the air. If he failed to enter the cave cleanly on the first try, he would likely be swept down by the waterfall into the deep pool and sustain injuries.
His first soul ring lit up, and his energy seeds transformed into countless raindrops, charging toward the waterfall.
However, the impact of a two-hundred-meter-high waterfall can be easily imagined; before the soul-power seeds could even reach behind the waterfall, they were swept away into the deep pool by the raging current.
"I have it!"
Li Xun raised his left hand, and a kunai instantly appeared in his palm.
Gathering a batch of ungerminated seeds of life, Li Xun carefully wrapped them around the kunai, selected the right angle, and gave it a gentle toss toward the waterfall.
Carrying the seeds, the kunai instantly burst forth from Li Xun's palm, piercing through the waterfall in the blink of an eye.
Sensing the position of the seeds, Li Xun felt a surge of joy and hastily manipulated his chakra to accelerate their growth.
Right in the middle of the waterfall, which had previously looked like a white thread of water, a burst of vibrant green suddenly erupted. As the saplings grew larger and larger, the magnificent waterfall seemed to split into two, cascading down both sides.
Still feeling uneasy, Li Xun took the opportunity to spawn a few more trees at the base to completely block the central stream of water.
Everything was prepared.
Li Xun connected the plants at both ends of the waterfall and the cliff, forming a sturdy wooden bridge.
He walked gracefully behind the water curtain.
Li Xun tapped gently against the rock wall with a wooden stick, carefully discerning the force of the rebound transmitted through the wood.
He continued until he heard a distinct difference in the echo and rebound force from a certain spot on the cliff.
"Found it." Li Xun repeatedly confirmed the location on the rock wall.
He withdrew the stick and pressed against the spot. The previously seamless stone wall actually indented inward.
Accompanied by a harsh grinding sound akin to a millstone, a doorway slowly opened on the cliff face, revealing a pitch-black cavern entrance.
A wave of joy washed over Li Xun as he flashed inside without hesitation.
The tunnel behind the waterfall was dark and damp. Li Xun produced a gemstone to serve as a lighting tool and strode briskly to the innermost stone chamber of the cave.
Unlike the tunnel, the stone chamber was not completely dark. A small opening at the top leaked a faint sliver of light, and under this negligible illumination, a single blade of Blue Silver Grass adorned with golden veins swayed gently in the breeze.
Sensing the approach of an outsider, the Blue Silver Grass shivered, its slender leaves trembling.
Tap, tap, tap...
Li Xun walked slowly up to the Blue Silver Grass and slowly squatted down. "Hello, I know you're still conscious."
The trembling of the Blue Silver Grass intensified, and a gentle wave of spiritual energy quietly emerged.
"Rest assured, I'm not here to kill you." Li Xun flashed a smile and gently tapped the Blue Silver Grass with his finger. "I merely want your soul bone."
The Blue Silver Grass suddenly fell still, behaving just like an ordinary plant.
Seeing this, Li Xun chuckled. Did she prefer death over surrender? That was impossible in front of him. "I know of your past with Tang Hao, and I also know your son, Tang San."
The Blue Silver Grass remained unmoved, as if those two individuals had nothing to do with her.
Tap, tap, tap...
Li Xun stood up and paced casually around the stone chamber, lightly tapping the surrounding walls with his knuckles. As the tapping echoed throughout the chamber, the Blue Silver Grass trembled incessantly with the sound.
"You want to leave your soul bone for Tang Hao or Tang San, don't you?"
Li Xun gave a light laugh. "To be honest with you, your son Tang San is already dead. The soul residing in his body now belongs to someone else."
The trembling leaves of the Blue Silver Grass froze, suddenly erupting with a fierce wave of spiritual fluctuation.
"You don't believe it?" Li Xun ignored the feeble spiritual attack and pulled out a volume of travel notes. "I'm not sure if you can see this, but I'll read it to you."
"According to these records, the Clear Sky Sect's Clear Sky Douluo, Tang Hao, fought fiercely against Pope Qianexun of the Spirit Hall for three days and three nights. The Spirit Hall suffered heavy losses in elite personnel, with one Titled Douluo dead and another heavily injured. The Pope of the Spirit Hall died of his severe injuries not long after returning."
"You tell me, is it possible for Tang Hao to survive after holding a newborn infant in one arm while fighting a single-handed battle against so many powerhouses for three full days and nights?"
The spiritual energy surrounding the Blue Silver Grass slowly retracted, as if she had fallen into deep thought.
Thud—
Li Xun tapped his finger against the wall, producing a different sound. Without further hesitation, he struck the wall with his palm. With a crisp clink, a pitch-black box dropped down from above.
Li Xun caught it quickly with his hand.
The box was made of lead, pitch-black throughout, about a foot wide and one and a half meters long, feeling exceptionally heavy in his grasp. The lead box was unlocked; Li Xun opened it carefully, and his eyes immediately landed upon a right leg bone.
Li Xun had seen soul bones before, but regardless of their shape or soul power fluctuations, none of the previous ones could compare to this one in the slightest.
This right leg bone was blue-gold in color, crystal-clear overall, with speckles of starlight seemingly twinkling continuously within it. Most peculiar of all was that this leg bone also contained a vast and boundless life force.
Li Xun closed the lid slowly and stowed it away inside his soul guide tool.
He needed to find a safe location to absorb it.
The energy within this soul bone was far too formidable; even Tang San had required three days to absorb it. Given Li Xun's lower current rank, he had no idea how long it might take.
What if Tang Hao suddenly returned while he was in the middle of absorption.....
How would that be any different from being caught red-handed in bed?
"Still haven't figured it out?" Having secured the soul bone, Li Xun was in high spirits. "I'll give you a piece of free information."
"The current girlfriend of your fake son Tang San is also a hundred-thousand-year soul beast."
