Chapter 112: He Is Exceptionally Talented
Chen Qi paid little attention to the calls from those music platforms.
Anyone with a brain could guess what they wanted.
Though he shamelessly believed that the world’s music scene might one day need him to save it, he had never once considered reviving that long-sick industry by simply selling songs.
That would be far too dull, with not nearly enough excitement.
If he ever did decide to rescue the music world, he would make a major spectacle of it.
Not necessarily something that shook the whole world, but at the very least, it ought to shake the entire country.
In fact, two days earlier in the recording studio, he had been curious enough to try out their top-tier equipment.
He had sung one of this world’s songs using those tools.
The result, in his opinion, was pretty decent.
What surprised him a little was that after he finished, even the professionals had given him a rather high evaluation. Xu Man, who had been watching from the side with great interest, had even put on an exaggerated expression of shock after hearing him sing.
In the words of those professionals, he had real talent.
So Chen Qi was thinking that he ought to find the right moment to turn the music world upside down.
Speaking of turning things upside down, he could not help sighing inwardly again.
He had just checked his destruction points, and they totaled twenty-three.
That was indeed double the eleven from before, but it was still nearly ten thousand points short of unlocking the second folder.
Very awkward.
At this rate of accumulation, he suspected he might never live long enough to open the folders beyond that.
More importantly, there was no breakdown or record showing how the points were earned. He knew the first eleven points had come from upending part of the online landscape, but he had no idea where the later twelve had come from.
Was it the advertising method used for Nothing But Surprises? Or the song he sold to Xu Man? Or had Immortal World quietly disrupted some other arena again?
He did not know.
He did not even know when those twelve points had been added.
With a heavy sigh in his heart, he went on eating his lunch.
After the meal, Chen Qi called Xu Bunian to ask about the film.
It had been so many days since he had paid attention that he did not know how their preparations were going.
I am out with Director Zhou looking at locations right now, Xu Bunian said after finding a relatively quiet corner in the busy city and giving him a brief update on the film’s progress.
They had already made rough arrangements for the relevant staff and equipment, and had confirmed two possible shooting locations. As for the cast, they had also identified a few suitable candidates, but since they had not contacted them yet, they did not know whether any final agreement could be reached.
Fine, fine. You keep busy, Chen Qi said after listening for a few moments, then hung up.
He had no interest at all in those dull, tedious preparations.
Let the two of them take their time. After all, this was not the kind of thing that could be rushed.
After clearing away the bowls and chopsticks, Chen Qi sat on a stool and idled for a while, then got up and left the rental apartment.
At two in the afternoon, he arrived at the studio.
Su Xiaoxiao was not there.
Chen Qi did not mind. He had not come looking for her anyway.
Once inside the studio, the bright and clean environment before his eyes made him feel refreshed.
The studio had been cleaned very thoroughly. Although it still looked rather empty overall, some potted greenery had already been arranged inside, and the place looked very comfortable.
A faint smile rose on Chen Qi’s face.
As expected, this sort of meticulous work should be left to girls. If it were up to him, he probably would never manage to arrange those plants in such an aesthetically pleasing way in his entire life.
He walked further in and unexpectedly discovered that the desk and chair in his office had already been installed.
Curious, he went over and sat down to try them out. They felt quite good.
After taking a general look around the studio, Chen Qi left.
He did not call Su Xiaoxiao. There was nothing urgent, so she could keep busy.
Once outside the studio, Chen Qi found himself unsure of where to go for a moment.
Watching the traffic flowing back and forth on the road, he suddenly remembered the thought of buying a car that had flashed through his mind before.
Since he had time now, why not go take a look at a dealership?
After considering it, he hailed a taxi and headed straight for the nearest auto city.
On the way there, he opened his phone to learn about the car brands in this world.
He did not study them in great detail. After a quick look, he picked two brands with slightly better reputations.
More than half an hour later, the taxi driver brought him to the auto city. As far as the eye could see, both sides of a long main road were lined with dealerships of all kinds.
Chen Qi walked along the right-hand shoulder of the road, searching for the brands he had selected earlier as he went.
Along the way, he saw two dealerships with several models in their lots that perfectly matched his taste, and he nearly went in to have a look.
In the end, though, he restrained himself.
A car was a major purchase. He could not just go by looks alone. He was not familiar with the brands in this world, so it would be wiser to stick with those that had better reputations.
More than ten minutes later, he finally spotted one of the brands he had chosen.
Chen Qi quickened his pace and walked over.
But what happened next was completely beyond his expectations.
Before he even reached the front of the dealership, he could already hear a rather noisy commotion from afar.
With great curiosity, he walked to the entrance of the dealership’s lot and was stunned.
Someone was defending his rights.
A sport utility vehicle plastered all over with complaint slogans had been parked very rudely in front of the sales department, and a middle-aged man who seemed to be the owner was speaking excitedly to several suited men surrounding him.
Chen Qi was instantly dumbfounded.
What kind of situation was this?
Hadn’t this brand supposedly had a good reputation and solid quality?
He had passed so many dealerships without seeing a thing, and now this happened at the very brand he had carefully selected?
Chen Qi immediately felt a little unsettled.
Was his luck just terrible, or had the information he gathered been wrong?
Hello, sir. Are you looking at cars?
Just then, a sharply dressed salesman approached him with a smile.
Chen Qi looked at him with a mix of amusement and helplessness, thinking, how am I supposed to answer that?
Do you have a model in mind? I can introduce some to you, the salesman said, gesturing invitingly toward the inside.
He seemed to have already noticed that Chen Qi had been startled by the scene before him.
No need, Chen Qi said, waving a hand. He cast another curious glance inside, then turned and left.
Whether this was truly just a rare accident he had happened to encounter, or whether the information he had obtained was actually wrong, he no longer had a favorable impression of the brand.
Forcing an owner to defend his rights by blocking the dealership entrance was proof enough that this place was not much good.
More than ten minutes later, he arrived at another brand.
With the help of a young salesman, he also carefully learned about two models that interested him.
Unfortunately, there were no cars in stock. And because this model sold too well, even placing an order now could not guarantee a specific delivery date.
After thinking it over, Chen Qi ultimately decided to postpone buying a car for now.
Leaving the dealership, Chen Qi retraced his steps.
But just as he was about to pass the dealership he had visited earlier, he suddenly stopped.
From a distance, he saw that the uncle who had been fighting for his rights with the dealership was now squatting on the road outside the place, wiping away tears.
Looking at that lonely, helpless figure, Chen Qi frowned slightly. After a few seconds of silence, he started walking toward the man.
