Chapter 120: Two Hundred Million, Just for Fun
Yu Fei’s tone was gentle, his posture humble; to an onlooker, he appeared to be a rare, kind-hearted father.
Shen Qing didn’t even lift her head, still engrossed in her game. Her fingers danced nimbly, unleashing skill after skill in a dazzling burst of colors on the screen.
The smile on Yu Fei’s face froze, a chill flickering in his eyes.
“I want to talk to you,” Yu Fei said, staring intently at the girl absorbed in her game, his expression unreadable, though his voice grew even more cordial.
“Wait.” Shen Qing was too busy to respond. She tapped rapidly, releasing two more skills that wiped out the encroaching enemies cleanly.
[Top-tier player, amazing!]
[What the hell? How did I just die?!]
[This ‘Unknown’ is ridiculously good.]
[Master, will you take apprentices? Waiting online!]
As the game ended, Shen Qing glanced at her private messages and deleted them all with one click.
Seeing the game over, Yu Fei’s face regained its smile. “Qingqing, when are you coming home?”
Shen Qing logged out, lifting her eyelids to glance at him. “Have you already got Alzheimer’s?”
Yu Fei was momentarily stunned, the smile slipping off his face, nearly turning cold on the spot.
Shen Qing caught the almost broken expression on his face and smirked, though there was no warmth in her eyes.
Yu Fei pulled a check from his wallet. “Here’s one million. Take this first.”
Shen Qing raised an eyebrow but didn’t move.
Yu Fei sneered inwardly. Too little?
“Name your price. How much do you want to come back?”
Shen Qing glanced at the check, clicked her tongue, then slowly extended two fingers.
“All right, two million then.” Yu Fei breathed a sigh of relief—two million was not much. If Shen Qing returned to the Yu family, the Yu Corporation’s net profit would at least double.
“No, two hundred million. Just testing the waters.” Shen Qing withdrew her fingers, draping her arms over the chair’s armrests and crossing her legs with a rebellious, wild air.
“Two hundred million?” Yu Fei’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“Mm.” Shen Qing shot him a sidelong glance, clearly entertained.
Seeing her so certain, Yu Fei suddenly felt a tightness in his chest. This rebellious daughter was deliberately toying with him!
“Shen Qing, don’t get greedy.” Yu Fei’s gentle fatherly facade finally shattered, his face darkening with coldness, his eyes icy and void of emotion.
Shen Qing remained indifferent, raising her hand to inspect her nails, which had grown a bit long. She’d have to trim them when she got home.
“Shen Qing.” Yu Fei called again, his lowered voice threaded with anger.
She lifted her head to meet his gaze. Her eyes were stunning—clear black and white, free of the eerie red veins they used to have. The slight upward tilt at the corners, paired with thick lashes that seemed to draw their own eyeliner, made her look striking.
Yu Fei felt a pang of guilt under her stare. He shifted his focus elsewhere, unwilling to meet her eyes again.
“I’ve always been clear about favors and grievances. For the sake of Grandpa and Grandfather, I’ve never made things difficult for you.”
Yu Fei was taken aback. “What do you mean?”
With such an attitude, wasn’t she making things difficult?
Shen Qing lowered her head and fiddled with her fingers, ignoring him.
Yu Fei’s expression darkened. He felt she was mocking him. If this went on, he might soon be so furious he’d spit blood.
With that thought, Yu Fei suddenly stood, casting Shen Qing a sinister glance before tossing the check into her lap.
Shen Qing clicked her tongue, pinching the check with one hand. “For the sake of this one million, I’ll remind you again: manage things well back home, or one day, if I’m unhappy, the Yu family might be wiped out.”
“Shen Qing! How can you speak so venomously!” Yu Fei’s forehead veins bulged, his face flushed red with fury.
“Just speaking the truth.” Shen Qing stood up, crumpling the check and tucking it into her pocket as if it were worthless scrap.
“You...” Yu Fei was furious but, mindful of Shen Qing’s current influence online, dared not act rashly. He could only swallow his anger.
“Hmph! This family, come home or not, it’s your choice!” Yu Fei shot her a glare and turned to leave, the office door slamming noisily behind him.
He simply couldn’t believe the Yu family couldn’t thrive without Shen Qing.
Director Yan happened to walk by and was startled by the thunderous slam. Was the door about to be broken?
For all his care, Yu Fei’s attitude toward Shen Qing was colder than toward a stranger on the street.
