Chapter 148: Video

When a face suddenly appeared on the screen—cool and breathtakingly beautiful—Gu Ting’s breath caught.
“I’m going to quiz you on a chemistry question: the definition of heat of combustion.”
“Hm?” Shen Qing narrowed her eyes. Had he video-called her just to tutor her?
“Heat of combustion refers to the amount of heat released when one mole of a combustible substance burns to form stable compounds. I’ll send you a file later. Memorize it properly—it’ll be useful.”
Watching Shen Qing, Gu Ting smiled. His long, narrow eyes curved slightly, giving him an alluring look.
“Oh.” Shen Qing turned the camera away and tossed her phone onto the bed.
“You’ve gone abroad?” Gu Ting stared at the screen, his expression darkening.
The phone’s camera was pointed at the ceiling. The carved decorations were characteristic of Country R. When Shen Qing moved the phone just now, Gu Ting had caught a glimpse of the background. It looked like the most famous five-star hotel in Country R.
“Mm.” Shen Qing admitted it without hesitation.
“Country R?”
“Mm.”
Gu Ting glanced at the time and calculated the time difference. “When did you arrive?”
“Today.”
“Oh. Go to bed early and adjust to the time difference.”
Shen Qing arched a brow slightly and picked up her phone. The face on the screen was pleasing to look at.
“Aren’t you going to tutor me anymore?”
Gu Ting lowered his eyes and spoke in a quiet voice. “I’ll tutor you tomorrow.”

Shen Qing paused, then quickly hung up.
Gu Ting stared blankly at the chat window for a moment. Only after two seconds did he put down his phone.
“Well, well. Calling your little girlfriend in the living room, are you?”
Gu Mingyue stood at the foot of the stairs. He had secretly watched for quite some time and only came down after Gu Ting ended the call.
Gu Ting glanced at him and gave a faint hum.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk.” Gu Mingyue could not help clicking his tongue. Just look at that attitude—the way he had acted during the video call had been completely different.

Shen Qing slept at the hotel for an entire day and did not go out until the following evening.
The streets of Country R were lively at night. There were flower shops everywhere, and the fragrance of flowers could be smelled from far away, adding a distinctly romantic atmosphere to the entire street.
Shen Qing stopped outside a café and took a photograph of its sign. She opened WeChat and sent the picture.
She chose a secluded seat, ordered a coffee and two pastries, then played a game while waiting for someone to arrive.
“Qingqing, I’m sorry. Something came up on the way and delayed me.”
At the sound of the voice, Shen Qing raised her head. The man was dressed in a black turtleneck sweater, his hair groomed to perfection. A black mask covered his face, leaving only a pair of deep-set eyes visible.
Shen Qing set her phone on the table and pushed the coffee toward Lu Xuanyou. “No sugar.”
Lu Xuanyou removed his mask. He had a high, straight nose and deep, striking features—a face with an unmistakable air of mixed heritage.
“Mm.” Lu Xuanyou placed the mask to one side and added two cubes of sugar himself.
“You should have told me you were coming. I could have picked you up at the airport.” Lu Xuanyou took a small sip, set down his cup, and lifted his eyes to the girl across from him.
Shen Qing picked up her phone again and continued playing her game. “I arrived yesterday.”

The girl’s voice was indescribably indifferent. Looking at Shen Qing, Lu Xuanyou’s eyes were filled with tender affection.
“Qingqing, let’s go to the amusement park tomorrow.”
Shen Qing raised her eyes and cast him a glance. “No.”
Lu Xuanyou had expected that answer. He lowered his head and smiled. “Mm. Qingqing is still as cold and heartless as ever.”
“Qingqing, are you really not coming back to RT?”
Lu Xuanyou gently stirred his coffee with a small spoon.
“Mm.”
“Then come back tomorrow and see everyone. They all miss you very much.”
Shen Qing’s fingers paused over the game, and an emotion too subtle to detect flickered across her eyes.
“Mm.”
The girl remained as cool and detached as before.
Lu Xuanyou gazed quietly at her. “You play this game too?”
Shen Qing unleashed a skill and killed two people. Her equipment was not particularly impressive, but she made up for it with her swift fingers and her phone’s rapid response.
Lu Xuanyou craned his neck to watch for a minute. After Shen Qing finished the round, he finally spoke.
“Do you want the latest equipment? I have it.”
Shen Qing exited the game and slowly lifted her eyelids to look at him.
Lu Xuanyou smiled gently. “The latest War God Armor. It can withstand ninety-five percent of damage.”
Anyone who played as the War God and did not own the War God Armor could hardly be considered a serious paying player.
As long as you had that armor, you had practically already won the game.
