Shen Qing said nothing and entered the room to change clothes. Gu Ting stared intently at her back, his gaze lingering on her pale ankles, his eyes dark and unreadable.

When Shen Qing emerged, Gu Ting was already seated at the dining table, laying out breakfast dish by dish—pan-fried dumplings, steamed buns, egg soup, and a small plate of meat porridge. It was a sumptuous spread.

“Sit down and eat,” Gu Ting said, smiling at her. His eyes swept over the girl’s bare feet, and he frowned slightly.

“Okay,” Shen Qing replied lazily, settling herself at the table with her legs curled up on the chair, sitting in an unruly manner.

“That’s not good,” Gu Ting suddenly remarked.

Shen Qing swallowed a dumpling and glanced at him in confusion.

The man stood up, wearing pink slippers, walked to the shoe cabinet, and took out a matching pair of white slippers. He returned to Shen Qing’s side and placed them beside her chair.

“The floor is cold. Wear slippers.”

“Okay,” Shen Qing responded perfunctorily, focusing on her breakfast.

She had a hearty appetite; she finished everything and didn’t feel full.

“Do you want more?” Gu Ting noticed her licking her lips, as if she still wanted to eat.

“I’ll save it for snacks,” Shen Qing said, glancing at the white slippers and slipping them on.

Gu Ting didn’t linger much longer and prepared to leave, thoughtfully taking the trash with him.

Shiyi sat in the car outside, watching as his master came down carrying a bag of garbage.

“Sir, let me,” he hurried out and took the trash from Gu Ting.

How could he let his master handle something like garbage disposal!

Gu Ting let Shiyi take over and got into the van himself.

“Sir, where to now?” Shiyi fastened his seatbelt and asked.

“The city center villa.”

“Yes, sir.” Shiyi started the car, suddenly remembering the An Ning album collection he had received a few days ago but hadn’t yet listened to. He played it in the car.

The girl’s ethereal voice filled the air, and Shiyi immediately felt much more comfortable.

Gu Ting squinted his eyes, clearly relaxed. “You listen to An Ning as well?”

Shiyi grinned, “Sir, you like her too?”

“Mm, she’s alright.”

Five years ago, An Ning shot to fame overnight with her song “Abyss.” Thanks to her, RT Entertainment rose from second-tier to international super-elite, hailed by international music experts as a genius diva.

Unfortunately, two years ago, after singing a promotional song for RT Group, An Ning terminated her contract and vanished from the public eye. If not for her public announcement, her fans would have thought RT was suppressing her.

“I wonder what the diva looks like?” Shiyi mused. Back then, Gu Chushi had taken him to see An Ning’s concert in S Continent; she was petite and wore an extravagant mask.

With such a beautiful voice, she must be beautiful as well!

Dongfang Cheng arrived just ahead, and Gu Ting followed soon after. The servants brought tea for both gentlemen before leaving the study.

Mo Wuxie sat at the head of the table, wearing a mischievous smile.

Dongfang Cheng glanced at him, “Look at how smug you are—the ones in trouble are the Mo family.”

“Cheng’er, stop linking me to the Mo family. The Mo family belongs to Mo Yunzhou, that brat. Nothing to do with me,” Mo Wuxie muttered, pursing his lips. The Mo family patriarch favored his own branch in F Continent.

Anyway, his little company hadn’t gotten much money from the Mo family, and he still had to put up with Mo Yunzhou’s attitude.

“Hey, Ting, can you pull some strings and make the Mo family’s problem a bit bigger?”

“What the hell! Are you crazy?” Dongfang Cheng was stunned by Mo Wuxie’s bizarre train of thought.

“Wuxie, the four major families in Beijing are tightly intertwined. Don’t act rashly!” Dongfang Cheng patted his chest.

Beijing’s four great families—Dongfang, Mo, Lan, and Gu—had been closely allied since their great-grandfathers’ generation. Even now, though there was plenty of covert rivalry, their interests were deeply linked.

Gu Ting gave Mo Wuxie a cold glance, “You’re talking nonsense.”

Mo Wuxie: …

“I was just saying, don’t take it seriously,” Mo Wuxie scratched his head and laughed awkwardly.

Gu Ting propped his chin with his right hand, thoughtful. “The drug smuggling case in Y City has drawn attention; the Lan family has people investigating, so keep a low profile for now.”

“Yeah, we received word a few days ago and shipped our goods out of Country M. The UN police won’t find anything on us,” Dongfang Cheng nodded; he’d been overseeing the shipments these past few days.

“By the way, where are the snacks I asked you to bring?” Gu Ting suddenly switched topics.

Mo Wuxie was taken aback, “Ting, I didn’t think you ate junk food.”

Dongfang Cheng kicked Mo Wuxie’s leg.

“Ouch! Why’d you kick me?”

“You really are foolish. Gu Ting is buying them for the little fairy.”

Mo Wuxie froze—was Ting courting a girl?

Gu Ting raised his brows, his gaze at Dongfang Cheng turning dangerous. “So, where are my snacks?”
