Chapter 6: The Heist Is Inevitable
Shen Qing took a taxi back to the Yu family home. Yu Jiaxuan was sitting in the living room, playing a game.
“Damn! They triple-killed me!”
“Hey! Bro, what’s with your gameplay? Just feeding the enemy?”
“Miss Shen, have you eaten yet?” He Zhong noticed Shen Qing entering and saw that Zhong Yi wasn’t behind her.
“Zhong Yi?”
“He’s left. I’ve already eaten. I’m heading upstairs,” Shen Qing replied without pausing, heading straight up.
“Shit! Dead again!” Yu Jiaxuan, frustrated, slammed his phone onto the sofa.
“Hey! It’s all your fault. The moment you came home, I started losing.” He glared at Shen Qing with hostility.
“If you’re no good, you can only blame yourself. Don’t make excuses,” she retorted.
Yu Jiaxuan’s face darkened. He slipped on his slippers and stormed up the stairs.
“You little bastard, are you looking for trouble?” he spat, his voice venomous.
Shen Qing halted, her expression turning grim. She spun around, her eyes brimming with unconcealed hostility.
“What—why are you looking at me like that!” Yu Jiaxuan was unnerved by her fierce gaze.
“Who are you calling a bastard? You can go ask your dear mother about that.”
Yu Jiaxuan froze. “What does this have to do with my mom? You and your mother just can’t stand to see our family do well!”
Shen Qing flexed her fingers, loosening her joints, and slowly came down the stairs.
Yu Jiaxuan took a step back. “What are you doing?”
“I just want to know—which is harder, my fist or your mouth?” she said coldly.
Seeing she was serious, He Zhong hurried to mediate.
“Young master, Miss Shen, we’re all family here. Let’s not get upset.”
Yu Jiaxuan spat viciously. “Pah! Who’s family with her? She’s dirtying the Yu family’s doorstep.”
Shen Qing shot him a frosty glance, making him falter.
“The Yu family is hardly worthy of associating with me,” she replied, then turned and went back upstairs.
“You—”
“Young master, don’t be angry,” He Zhong quickly held him back.
“Hmph! What a piece of trash!” Yu Jiaxuan glared after Shen Qing’s retreating figure, then sat down to resume his game.
When Qin Lin returned home, she found her precious son sulking in the living room.
She set down her purse and sat beside him, her tone gentle.
“What’s wrong, Jiaxuan?”
Yu Jiaxuan pouted. “Mom, kick Shen Qing out! I can’t stand the sight of her.”
Qin Lin paused briefly, then smiled. “Mind your words. If your father hears that, he’ll scold you again.”
“We’re the real family. She’s an outsider, shamelessly living under our roof.”
Qin Lin squeezed his hand and said softly, “Jiaxuan, don’t say things like that again. She’s someone your father brought back. Stop going against Shen Qing—it’s beneath you.”
“Fine, I get it. As long as she doesn’t make me sick.”
“That’s my good boy.”
“Mom, when is sister coming home?”
“Soon. Min’er’s shoot will finish in a few days.”
A proud smile spread across Qin Lin’s lips. The daughter she’d given birth to was a constant source of pride for her.
Hearing this, a malicious grin flickered across Yu Jiaxuan’s face.
That wretched Shen Qing—once his sister returned, she’d be in for a hard time!

The elevator stopped on the 23rd floor. As Gu Ting stepped out, he saw two young men waiting in the corridor, watching him with sly grins.
Dongfang Cheng waggled his eyebrows. “Brother Gu, back already before dark? That was quick.”
Gu Ting glanced at them without a word and went straight into his apartment.
“Ting, your iron heart has finally blossomed. Tell us, how are things progressing?” Mo Wuxie followed, his face full of curiosity.
“Yeah, since you’re already in, send the little fairy a message and let her know you’re safe. Now that you’ve added her on WeChat, you should chat more and build a connection!” Dongfang Cheng chimed in.
“We’ve checked—Shen Qing is Yu Fei’s daughter from his first marriage. She only arrived in Fancheng a few days ago. Poor girl, lost her mother early, no parents around. It’ll be easy for you to swoop in.”
Gu Ting suddenly stopped, forcing the two behind to nearly bump into him.
He turned, his voice cool. “Don’t investigate her.”
Dongfang Cheng and Mo Wuxie were both taken aback, their expressions subtly shifting.
What did that mean?
Protecting her already?
Gu Ting shot them a sidelong glance, said nothing more, and strode into his office, settling at his desk.
“Ting, give me Shen Qing’s WeChat,” Mo Wuxie piped up shamelessly.
He blamed himself for being too absorbed in Gu Ting and Shen Qing’s business at dinner, forgetting to ask for her contact info.
With Shen Qing’s looks, if she signed with his agency, she’d definitely put that little brat Mo Yunzhou to shame!
Gu Ting glanced up, his gaze indifferent.
Mo Wuxie’s heart skipped a beat!
“Brother Gu, I want it too…”
“So much free time—does your work not appeal to you? Out.”
After a brief pause, “And leave her file here.”
Dongfang Cheng: ...
Mo Wuxie: ...
So much for that.

Barefoot, Shen Qing stepped out of the bathroom, her hair still dripping. She grabbed the hairdryer, gave herself a quick once-over, then lay on the windowsill with her phone to catch the breeze.
[Xia Mang: You finally replied! Where are you? I’m in China now.]
The message had arrived that afternoon. Shen Qing replied: [In Fancheng.]
Barely three seconds later, a video call came through.
She accepted. On the screen appeared a flamboyantly dressed woman with heavy makeup and a bold outfit—her figure was outstanding.
“Little Egg, long time no see! You’ve gotten even prettier!” Xia Mang’s voice was sugar-sweet. Shen Qing twitched at the sound, finding it cloying.
“What’s up? Just say it.”
“You know the Luo family in the capital? There’s a shipment—they’ll be stopping in Fancheng.”
Shen Qing’s eyes narrowed slightly at this.
“Mm.” Her tone was indifferent, as if it were as trivial as “Have you eaten today?”
Xia Mang wondered if there was anything in this world that could truly shock Shen Qing.
“Over three billion—big business. Are you in?”
Shen Qing’s lips curled in a mocking smile. “They’re going all out to lure me out. Of course I have to take the bait.”
