Chapter 104: A Powerful Pokémon? Battle Me!

Morubeke’s reverse scale attack came with fierce momentum and incredible speed. Da Kong, inexperienced in battle, was momentarily panicked. When Morubeke charged before him, the Sky Blaze was only just launched.

“Ah!” Da Kong was slammed to the ground with a thud, letting out a painful cry before struggling back to his feet.

“You really can’t underestimate the electric mouse,” Su Yi murmured.

“Yes! Successfully inflicted damage!” Mari exclaimed excitedly.

“Roar!” Da Kong growled, a hint of irritation in his voice.

“Morubeke!” With the lingering dragon energy still pulsing through his body, Morubeke charged again, using reverse scale.

True to its name, the Dragon’s Reverse Scale provokes a furious reaction when touched.

This is a high-powered move; when used, the Pokémon rampages in anger but ultimately falls into confusion.

Moreover, Dragon-type moves resist Dragon-types. Although Morubeke’s use of this move lacks the usual type advantage, it still dealt significant damage to Da Kong.

“Continue countering with Sky Blaze,” Su Yi said in a clear voice, calming Da Kong’s irritation.

Da Kong absorbed the experience; the third Sky Blaze was unleashed much quicker.

Boom!

The fireball detonated.

“Morubeke!” Morubeke’s figure faltered, then charged once more, though his spirit had noticeably waned.

“Block with your wings!”

Da Kong immediately obeyed, his wings glowing as he struck the incoming Morubeke.

Thud!

Da Kong staggered back two steps, while Morubeke, repeatedly thwarted in his advance, was finally forced to stop using reverse scale, beginning to stagger and feel dizzy.

The side effects of reverse scale had begun.

“One more time, Sky Blaze!”

Mari shouted anxiously. “Morubeke! Dodge quickly!”

But Morubeke, caught in confusion, failed to hear her call. He wildly flailed his arms, becoming an easy target for Da Kong.

The Sky Blaze struck precisely. Amid the flames, Morubeke’s figure was hurled out and collapsed on the ground, his body marked with large burn scars. Morubeke, lacking stamina, was clearly no longer capable of continuing the fight.

“Morubeke!” Mari hurried forward, worry etched on her face.

Su Yi took out some healing medicine and stepped closer. “Let’s tend to the wounds first.”

With practiced ease, he sprayed the healing ointment on Morubeke’s burns and fed him some restorative medicine.

“Mor-bei…” Morubeke regained his strength, sticking out his tongue as if to say the taste of the medicine was somewhat indescribable.

“You alright, Morubeke?” Mari sighed in relief seeing Morubeke revive.

“Mor-bei~” Morubeke smiled and waved his hand, signaling Mari not to worry.

“That’s great.” Mari patted Morubeke’s head gently.

“Ah~” Da Kong ran to Su Yi’s feet, calling out expectantly.

Su Yi smiled and crouched, lifting Da Kong with some effort. “Well done, Da Kong. Step by step, you’re getting stronger.”

“Ah~” Da Kong closed his eyes happily and nuzzled Su Yi’s face, his rough scales scraping painfully.

Su Yi grinned through the discomfort, stroking Da Kong in return for his affection.

“I still have a long way to go,” Mari said, picking up Morubeke.

“You’ve done very well already. Keep it up,” Su Yi encouraged.

Mari nodded, renewed determination shining in her eyes.

Clap! Clap! Clap!

A round of applause rang out. Su Yi turned, surprised to see the girl from before approaching, clapping her hands.

“Very composed command. What’s the name of your Pokémon?”

“This is Da Kong, a male Fire Dragon,” Su Yi replied.

Da Kong responded with a cheerful cry.

“Da Kong, huh? I’ve never seen this Pokémon before; there’s no information about it in the Pokédex,” the girl said curiously, leaning in to examine Da Kong closely.

“Ah-wa!” Da Kong opened his mouth and mischievously shot out little sparks.

The girl jumped back slightly, then laughed softly. “What a little rascal.”

“Um, I was wondering if I could battle your Pokémon?” she asked.

“Cough, cough, he’s still just a kid,” Su Yi replied.

“That’s too bad,” the girl’s enthusiasm suddenly dimmed.

“Su Yi, don’t you have other strong Pokémon?” Mari asked.

“Well, yes…” Su Yi hesitated, not wanting to take advantage of the girl.

Unexpectedly, the girl’s eyes lit up with anticipation. “You have other powerful Pokémon?”

Mari observed the girl’s expression, then said calmly, “Indeed, Su Yi has many strong Pokémon and has even battled the champion, Dan.”

“Oh? You’ve battled Dan?!” The girl’s surprise quickly turned to excitement.

“Please, you must battle me!” she smiled expectantly, clutching a Pokéball.

“Well, then you better be prepared. My Pokémon can be… quite fierce,” Su Yi chuckled.

“Fierce? Sounds like a very interesting battle. By the way, I’m Nemo, from the Paldea region,” the cheerful girl introduced herself with a sunny smile.

Su Yi paused. Paldea region?

Then, seeing the girl’s passionate and hopeful gaze toward Pokémon battles, he smiled. “I’m Su Yi, from a faraway place.”

On the bustling street, several Pokémon darted through the crowd, occasionally glancing up at the passersby.

“Chirp?” A fledgling sparrow spotted them from the billboard and flew down to greet them.

“Jiru!” A serpent-patterned bear’s eyes gleamed as it quickly said something.

The fledgling sparrow nodded and then took flight.

Minutes later, a Corviknight descended into an alley. A Meowth signaled for a Doublade to come forward and relay something.

“Gah?!” Hearing Doublade’s description, Corviknight’s mind immediately pictured the man who had smiled while roasting delicious food for them.

“Gah!” Corviknight cried out loudly.

“Yin!” Doublade called out excitedly.

Corviknight nodded and soared into the sky, cawing loudly. The fledgling sparrows and Murkrow standing around the alley answered with calls before scattering to search for that man.

In a park, Nemo found a spacious field and smiled eagerly. “This is the place. Let’s have a thrilling Pokémon battle.”

“My partner hasn’t battled in a long time either. As you wish, let’s have a great fight. Don’t disappoint me,” Su Yi said, pulling out a capture ball.

“Let me see which Pokémon you’ll send out,” Nemo said, reaching into her pocket.

At that moment, something in her pocket reflected a beam of light, catching the attention of several Pokémon watching from the bushes outside the field.

“Since that girl said your Pokémon are strong, I guess it’s okay if I send this one out,” Nemo said, pulling out a Pokéball, eager to throw it.

Su Yi was still anticipating the unknown Pokémon from her region.

The Pokéball opened with a bang. A fierce and massive Pokémon crashed to the ground, letting out a savage roar.

“You’re up! Tyranitar!”
