Houndoom had been waiting for this moment. It let out a fierce roar that shook the swirling dust. An ominous orange-red glow flared around its neck, and its jagged teeth bared as white steam billowed from its mouth. Faintly, something else seemed to drift into the air.

Amid the sandstorm, Su Yi couldn’t see much more but barked his command with a trembling voice: “Rending Claw!”

Crack! Tyranitar slammed the ground fiercely, sending a massive energy-infused rock spike shooting skyward, targeting the spot where Houndoom hovered.

Su Yi couldn’t help but marvel. Was this some kind of rock-type youth version of the Cliff Cutter?

“Shatter it with your claws!” Su Yi shouted.

“Howl!” Houndoom swung its rending claws, both paws weaving a pale net of razor-sharp blades, smashing the rock spike to dust.

Boom! The massive rock spike attack was destroyed. After landing, Houndoom’s powerful hind legs pushed off again, shooting like an arrow toward the nearby Tyranitar.

Slash! Slash! Slash! A flurry of fierce claw strikes landed in an instant. Tyranitar howled in pain and staggered backward repeatedly.

The rending claw’s inflicted torn status kept triggering with each successive strike.

Normally, a single torn wound would be slight damage for a strong Pokémon, but with the continuous additional torn damage from Rending Claw, the harm quickly became considerable.

Panting heavily, Houndoom paused its Rending Claw attack, exhaling long streams of white vapor, looking even more ferocious.

“Earthquake!” Nimo shouted.

The retreating Tyranitar forced itself to halt its decline, then stomped hard, causing a violent tremor that knocked Houndoom to the ground and sent a shock through its body, eliciting a piercing howl.

“Howl!” But soon, Houndoom rose again, its momentum even fiercer.

The fierce exchanges left spectators breathless.
