When the two finished their tender morning exercise, the sun was already high in the sky. Bei Gong Qiyi lay lazily atop Bei Gong Juechen, her fingers idly twisting strands of his long hair. Bei Gong Juechen kept his eyes closed, adjusting his breath until the chaotic inner energy settled into tranquility. He clenched his fists, gathering power in his palms; his thick, dark brows furrowed imperceptibly, only to smooth out after a moment.

He slowly opened his emerald green eyes and gazed at Bei Gong Qiyi, who still had traces of passion on her closed face. The youth’s already striking features were further enhanced by the lingering flush of their intimacy. Bei Gong Juechen wrapped his arms around her slender waist, pulling her up. Bei Gong Qiyi let out a languid hum, and the next moment, a pair of warm lips pressed gently against hers.

She instinctively responded, kissing him back as the bed curtains fluttered. Without opening her eyes, her hands slid down through his dark hair, past his waist and to his back. Her finger easily slipped into the place where traces of him still remained, teasing him with a provocative touch.

Bei Gong Juechen narrowed his eyes, and suddenly, his hand came down hard on her bare, smooth buttocks. The crisp slap echoed through the quiet room. Bei Gong Qiyi’s eyes flew open, glaring at him with a mix of anger and embarrassment. “Big brother, why did you spank me!”

Bei Gong Juechen replied with a half-smile, “I am your elder brother, as a father to you. Do I need a reason to spank you? And, take your hand out of my body.”

Bei Gong Qiyi withdrew her finger reluctantly and sat up abruptly. A few faint red marks dotted her bare chest. She stared into those mesmerizing green eyes and spoke solemnly, “Big brother, now that I am your man, you can’t hit me anymore!” She blinked, thinking for a moment before adding, “Especially not my butt!”

Bei Gong Juechen smiled with narrowed eyes, then landed another smack on her backside, raising an eyebrow. “Whose man is whom?” Bei Gong Qiyi pursed her lips, leaned down to kiss him, and laughed softly. “I am your man, and you are mine. We belong only to each other.”

His words were sweet, yet Bei Gong Juechen felt a faint discomfort. Seeing his brows knit together, Bei Gong Qiyi quickly smiled. “Big brother, let me help clean you up.”

Bei Gong Juechen snapped out of his thoughts, shooting her a cold glare. “I'll do it myself.” Bei Gong Qiyi shook his head in disappointment. “Alright then.” He lifted the bed curtain and glanced outside. “Big brother, the weather is lovely today. Let’s go out for a walk later!”

Bei Gong Juechen nodded indifferently. “Very well.” Bei Gong Qiyi sprang up, threw on a robe, and hurried out. Bei Gong Juechen, frowning as he endured his discomfort, cleaned himself up and tossed the stained brocade cloth onto the floor. He leaned against the headboard, sorting through his memories. They were overwhelmingly complete, almost unnaturally so, which unsettled him.

He felt that many things hadn't happened but appeared in his memories, and some events that had occurred were absent from them. The hurried footsteps of the youth approached, and Bei Gong Juechen looked toward the door, a subtle cold smile appearing on his previously impassive face.

Bei Gong Qiyi, what have you done to my memories...

Bei Gong Qiyi entered with a bright smile, and Bei Gong Juechen’s cold smirk vanished, replaced by a playful grin. He placed the items he carried onto the bed, picked up a piece of clothing, and handed it to Bei Gong Juechen. “Big brother, the clothes you ordered last time arrived ages ago. Try them on.”

Bei Gong Juechen unfolded the garment—fine material, exquisite embroidery, and a style he could barely accept. But the color... He tossed the clothes aside with obvious distaste. “I remember going to make clothes for you last time, not for myself.”

Bei Gong Qiyi wrinkled his nose, already draping the garment loosely over himself. “Big brother, since they’re here, just wear it once.” Bei Gong Juechen snorted, “I dislike its color.” As he fastened the buttons, Bei Gong Qiyi coaxed softly, “Big brother loves wearing green, I prefer yellow. This combines both our favorites.”

He glanced sidelong at the yellow-green robe, pulling it toward himself coldly. “I’ll wash up first.” Bei Gong Qiyi nodded, watching him leave. He glanced at the brocade cloth on the floor, a satisfied smile curling his lips.

After Bei Gong Juechen finished washing and changed clothes, Bei Gong Qiyi paused, then quickly stepped forward to straighten his collar. “Big brother is so handsome. He looks good in anything.”

The embroidery was intricate yet regal, enhancing Bei Gong Juechen’s aloof and unapproachable air. He rewarded Bei Gong Qiyi with a glare and strode out, while Bei Gong Qiyi followed with a lingering smile on his lips.

How wonderful—such a brother, so real, who truly loves me. Truly wonderful...

The swing in the courtyard rocked gently. Fu Zhi lay back with his eyes closed, white clothes stained with dots of blood, yet his expression was calm and detached. His hands rested on the armrests as if he could still feel the warmth of that person—neither hot nor cold.

The flowers and leaves swayed, and Fu Zhi slowly opened his eyes to look at the person before him.

That person sat on the wooden bench beside him. Fu Zhi was momentarily lost, as if back in that afternoon—lying on the swing with Bei Gong Juechen beside him, watching quietly. Fu Zhi closed his eyes and spoke softly, “Why are you here?”

The visitor played with the leaves at hand and laughed, “Naturally, I came to see how you are.” Fu Zhi replied coolly, “Thank you for your concern, Palace Master Qi. I am well. In my opinion, it’s you who doesn’t seem well.” Qi Yong raised an eyebrow and smiled, “Why do you say that?”

Fu Zhi looked at him, his expression icy. Qi Yong gazed back, feeling that these eyes were almost inhuman—so empty, devoid of emotion. He wondered if someone with such eyes could truly feel anything.

“Did you come today just to see a fellow sufferer? Only I’m not as greedy as you—you wish to imprison him for life, while I am content with only a moment.”

The small courtyard fell silent again. Fu Zhi gently rocked the swing, unperturbed by the biting wind. He suddenly asked, “Do you think helping him break the curse was right or wrong?” Only the wind howled in response.

The swing continued to sway. Fu Zhi spoke that single sentence, then fell silent. The courtyard was quiet, his question seemingly blown away with the wind. Yet, someone answered, “What do you think, right or wrong?”

Fu Zhi didn’t open his eyes, but acted as if he already knew someone was there. He sighed softly. “I don’t know if it was right or wrong. By breaking the curse, I played right into Bei Gong Qiyi’s hands. But if I hadn’t, I’d regret it. I’m not greedy, but I too wish to have you.”

The other person chuckled softly. “Brother, whether right or wrong, you’ve made your choice. Don’t regret it.”

Fu Zhi opened his eyes, black and cold, but now with a hidden emotion flickering in their depths. “I don’t regret it. I am already content.”

He stood slowly, looked at the spot where he’d just lain—a dried dark red stain glaring in the sunlight. Fu Zhi narrowed his eyes and turned to Ran Luo, the corners of his lips lifting slightly. “I once had ten days like that in my life. I am truly satisfied.”

The courtyard fell silent again, with only the swing gently rocking until it gradually came to a stop.

“Big brother, it’s been ages since we came out together,” Bei Gong Qiyi said, holding Bei Gong Juechen’s hand with a gentle smile. Bei Gong Juechen glanced around idly, replying, “Didn’t we just go out a short while ago to make clothes?”

Bei Gong Qiyi pouted, “But someone ruined that outing!”

“Hm?” Bei Gong Juechen raised an eyebrow. Bei Gong Qiyi looked at him and laughed, “Big brother, have you forgotten? Last time at the ‘Source of Food Pavilion’ we bumped into Zhao Yishan. He kept following us—it was supposed to be just you and me.”

Bei Gong Juechen gave him a knowing look. “He followed us because of you.”

“Because of me?” Bei Gong Qiyi frowned. “What does this have to do with me?”

Bei Gong Juechen teased, “Our dazzling young master, admired everywhere, naturally has many admirers.”

Bei Gong Qiyi burst out laughing, his dark eyes sparkling. “Big brother, are you jealous?”

Bei Gong Juechen half-narrowed his eyes, squeezing Bei Gong Qiyi’s hand a bit tighter. Bei Gong Qiyi’s brows knit with exaggerated distress. “Big brother, I was wrong.”

Bei Gong Juechen snorted and relaxed his grip, lowering his head to grumble. Bei Gong Qiyi obediently followed, saying nothing more.

They strolled leisurely, and when passing a small stall, Bei Gong Qiyi suddenly stopped. Bei Gong Juechen glanced at the stall, half-amused, and picked up a pig-faced mask, placing it on Bei Gong Qiyi’s face. “This suits you well.”

Bei Gong Qiyi quickly removed the mask, strangely refraining from his usual antics. Instead, he picked up another mask, examining it repeatedly. Bei Gong Juechen folded his arms, watching. Bei Gong Qiyi gently stroked the mask, then turned to Bei Gong Juechen. “Big brother, I want to see you wear this.”

It was pure white, with simple green vine patterns—a fox mask. Bei Gong Juechen glanced at it and raised his brow. “Is this a fox?”

Bei Gong Qiyi nodded with a smile. The mask was indeed fox-shaped. “Big brother, please wear it for me.”

Seeing the expectation in the youth’s eyes, Bei Gong Juechen nodded indifferently and reached out. But the youth didn’t hand it over—instead, he leaned in and personally placed it on his face.

The mask covered the upper half of his face, revealing a sharp jawline, rosy lips, and eyes shaped like the fox on the mask, lending Bei Gong Juechen a new allure—softer, yet even more captivating.

Through centuries, beauty remains. Loyalty and love shake the heavens; a single smile alters fate.

Bei Gong Qiyi gazed at him, slowly reaching up to caress his face. Bei Gong Juechen frowned, taking off the mask. Bei Gong Qiyi blinked and murmured, “Big brother, you truly are my fox spirit.” With that, he kissed Bei Gong Juechen’s lips, right there amid the crowd.
