She realized it was Captain Guan and his team, so she immediately raised her binoculars to glance in the direction of the police station. So early in the morning—the commotion here had clearly drawn the attention of those on duty. After someone jogged inside, more people rushed upstairs to look over in her direction.

Jiang Huan quickly put away her binoculars, avoided their line of sight, and made sure her face was well covered. Footsteps echoed from downstairs as well, and Jiang Huan waved her hand. "Over here, please take away all the items inside."

"Miss Jiang." Captain Guan hurried over, and when he saw the supplies in the room, his eyes widened in astonishment.

She really had donated such a large amount of materials.

The logistics department had been holding out on the other divisions for quite some time. With this dedicated batch of supplies, even if Logistics intentionally gave them subpar goods, they could still manage for a while. Thinking of this, he straightened his back and saluted Jiang Huan. "Thank you so much, Miss Jiang. By the way, regarding the firearms and ammunition you requested, I've already received authorization from the leadership. Would you prefer to select them yourself, or shall I make some recommendations?"

"I’d like something easy to handle," she replied.

"How about one rifle and one pistol, then? The rifle will be the Type 95, and the pistol a 9mm. I’ll equip you with two hundred rounds for each. If you need more, it’ll have to go through another application."

Jiang Huan showed him the two guns in her hand to indicate what she already owned.

"Oh, this one is a compact pistol produced by Walther in Germany, designed specifically for special operations. It can be fitted with tactical accessories if necessary. Its exterior reflects European artistry, and the ergonomic design makes for a very comfortable shooting experience. You are…"

He wanted to ask how she’d come by such weapons, but as Jiang Huan lifted the other gun, he continued his explanation. "This one! It’s currently exclusive to special forces. It’s highly versatile, can be fitted with all sorts of tactical gear, has a fully automatic mode, and though it looks unremarkable on the outside, its combat performance is extraordinary. Honestly, Miss Jiang, if you hadn’t mentioned being an adventure blogger, I would have thought you were a fervent firearms collector. These two are not easy to master."

Jiang Huan pressed her advantage. "Then could I have some ammunition for these as well? Fifty rounds for each will suffice. I only want them for self-defense. I’ve already paid a considerable price in donating these supplies to the base, so I feel it’s necessary to ensure my own safety. Don’t worry—I’ve only learned to use them for protection, never to harm anyone."

She added that she would pay for the training.

All Captain Guan could think of was the leadership’s instructions: as long as her requests weren't excessive, they must be fulfilled at all costs.

He could only nod. "If I’m not on a mission, I’ll come whenever you call."

Jiang Huan was satisfied, watching with a bright smile as everyone moved the supplies downstairs.

Although she had just given away more than a ton of materials, the base rewarded her with five thousand contribution points, a firearm, and two hundred rounds as thanks.

All in all, she’d vented her frustration, unsettled the troublemakers, and found herself a shooting instructor. It was a good haul; she didn’t feel the least bit regretful.

As she was leaving downstairs, Jiang Huan received five fish, each as long as half her arm.

"The leadership asked me to deliver these," he explained the origin of the fish.

Jiang Huan was curious where they came from.

"Head fifty miles north from our base and you’ll find a river. The fish there are sometimes frozen solid, sometimes lurking at the bottom. They’re easy to catch."

Jiang Huan accepted the five frozen fish, climbed into her little delivery van, and chugged away.

After she left, Captain Guan’s simple-minded earnestness faded. He glanced back toward the police station.

Miss Jiang probably hadn’t lured them here on purpose—judging by that armed gang. Well, whatever the case, her words yesterday about protecting the country had clearly inspired the leadership to do more for the survivors nearby. This group could not be tolerated.

"Let’s get the supplies back first. Leave two people here to keep watch and observe their movements."

"Yes, Captain!"
