Chapter 33 Lamborghini
Chen Erpao had barely run off before he suddenly realized that dozens more people had appeared from nowhere and were now chasing after him as well. Seeing this, he didn’t even bother trying to drive away in the Benz. He turned and ran as fast as his legs would carry him.
Truth be told, Chen Erpao’s bad luck today was almost comical. Normally, even having a dozen people trailing behind Tianyi when he went out would be considered a crowd. But lately, his father, Camel, had gotten into a fight with another gang, and fearing for his son’s safety, he’d sent a large group to protect him. So, the moment Tianyi ran out after Chen Erpao, his own men, stationed outside, immediately gave chase as well.
As he ran, Chen Erpao grumbled to himself, “Damn it, numbers really do make you bold. One day I’ll get myself a whole gang of underlings, so I won’t always be the one getting chased. Back in the army it was the drill instructor whipping me into a run—now it’s people waving knives. Looks like I’m just born to suffer.”
He kept running until he found himself outside an upscale western restaurant. Just then, the door swung open and out walked a young woman in a pink casual outfit. She headed straight for a red Lamborghini parked outside.
It had to be said: this woman was stunning, with a delicate and unworldly charm. But Chen Erpao had no time for admiration. The moment she opened the car door, he darted inside.
The woman’s face blanched with shock, her hands fluttering in panic.
“Hurry, drive! I won’t hurt you—trust me,” Chen Erpao said, his eyes locked on hers with a compelling intensity that brooked no refusal.
The woman was none other than the famous actress Zhang Xiaoyu, who had just parted ways with her friends. For reasons she couldn’t explain, she found herself obeying this stranger’s urgent command, as if something in his tone left no room for resistance.
Glancing in the rearview mirror, Zhang Xiaoyu saw the mob of thugs wielding knives and clubs closing in. Without hesitation, she floored the accelerator. The Lamborghini roared to life and shot off like a bolt of lightning.
Gradually regaining her composure, Zhang Xiaoyu stole anxious glances at her uninvited passenger. Though she was still frightened, she reassured herself that, at least, he didn’t seem like a bad person—after all, it was obvious he was being chased by gangsters. That was enough of an excuse for her, for now.
They cruised the city’s streets aimlessly for nearly an hour before Chen Erpao finally spoke again.
“Why didn’t you just take me to the police station?”
“Why would I? You haven’t done anything to me,” Zhang Xiaoyu replied without thinking.
Chen Erpao paused, surprised. “Fair point. Could you drop me off at the flower shop near the restaurant just now?”
Zhang Xiaoyu had wanted to ask why so many people had been after him with knives, but each time she opened her mouth, she hesitated and said nothing.
Exhausted from his earlier sprint, Chen Erpao relaxed in the plush seat of the world-class sports car, with a beautiful woman beside him. He couldn’t help but feel content.
He stole a glance at Zhang Xiaoyu, finally taking a proper look at this young woman who drove a supercar. Her flawless features radiated youth, her face as smooth as carved jade, and the pink outfit did little to hide her shapely figure.
Noticing his gaze, Zhang Xiaoyu’s heart skipped a beat, a sense of foreboding creeping in. “He’s not suddenly going to get any funny ideas, is he? Am I really about to get assaulted tonight?”
“Relax. I was just admiring your outfit—it’s quite nice,” Chen Erpao said with a sheepish grin, quickly coming up with an excuse.
There was no denying the Lamborghini’s prowess. In no time at all, the car swung around to a stop in front of the “I Am a Flower Shop.” By now, there was no sign of Hong Xing’s gang.
After checking that the coast was clear, Chen Erpao pulled out a hundred-yuan bill and tossed it onto the dashboard. “For your trouble.”
“Oh, right, a Lamborghini must be much more expensive.” He pulled out another hundred and dropped it before getting out, leaving behind a stunned and speechless Zhang Xiaoyu.
A short while later, Chen Erpao emerged from the flower shop with a bouquet of white lilies. As he was about to drive off in his Benz, he noticed that Zhang Xiaoyu’s Lamborghini was still parked in the same spot. Curious, he pulled up alongside, rolling down his window.
“Was the fare not enough? I can give you more,” he said with a straight face, though he was inwardly laughing.
Zhang Xiaoyu stared in astonishment—moments ago, he’d been a bedraggled fugitive, and now here he was, driving an S-class Benz like a tycoon. Her shock was plain on her face.
“You… my god!” she exclaimed, and with a fierce roar, her Lamborghini shot off down the street.
A satisfied smile played at the corners of Chen Erpao’s lips. His number one rule in picking up women was to leave an unforgettable impression. Whether his theory would bear fruit remained to be seen, but he was off to a promising start.
By the time he got home, it was already late. Originally, Chen Erpao had planned to deliver the flowers to Wang Xuemei first thing in the morning, so as not to disturb her rest.
But as soon as he reached his door, Wang Xuemei’s opened as well.
“What beautiful, fragrant lilies!” Wang Xuemei exclaimed happily, her joy plain to see as she gazed at the bouquet in his hands.
“I nearly lost half my life getting these flowers today,” Chen Erpao replied.
As soon as he said it, Wang Xuemei’s expression shifted from joy to worry. She hurried over, checking him over for injuries.
“What happened? Are you hurt? Are you alright?”
Gently stroking her hair, Chen Erpao felt a wave of emotion. “For the woman I love, any wound is worth it.”
“Smooth talker,” Wang Xuemei said with a blissful smile, giving him a playful glare.
“Is that so? How would you know if you haven’t tried just how smooth my lips are?” Chen Erpao chuckled, and suddenly pulled her into his arms, pressing his broad lips to hers and, in a heartbeat, deepening the kiss.
