Chapter 147: Going Abroad
However, there is no such thing as a regret pill in this world, and Xi Feng did not regret falling in love with Xu Liyuan. Everyone has their own path to walk and their own life to lead.
A wave of sorrow washed over him.
----------《The Fairy Under the Sunset》---------
Five days later, Mu Qingxi slowly stirred awake in her hospital room.
Her face was deathly pale and her lips were cracked. When she opened her eyes, they lacked focus, as if she were blind; she simply stared blankly ahead.
Someone limped into the room. Mu Qingyang had found his own time in the hospital bed quite taxing. He had come to visit three days ago when visitors were permitted, but Mu Qingxi had not yet woken up. He had been coming once, sometimes twice, every single day.
He wanted to see if she had regained consciousness. The moment he stepped through the door and saw her lying in bed with her eyes open, he shouted with delight, "Big sister, you're finally awake! Can you please stop scaring me like this every time?"
Mu Qingyang complained, though his tone was laced with relief. He had been busy shuttling back and forth between his own hospital room and his sister’s. He was exhausted—mostly emotionally. Seeing his sister lying motionless in bed every day had left their parents frantic, and even their cousin wore a grave expression.
The heavy gazes he received daily felt like a weight crushing him, even though no one said a word.
Watching Mu Qingxi lie there so still, Mu Qingyang felt a surge of unease. What was wrong with her? Why wasn't she moving?
He called out tentatively, "Sister?"
There was no response; her eyes didn't even flicker. He called out again, "Sister? What's wrong? Are you in pain anywhere?"
Only then did Mu Qingxi slowly turn her head. Looking at her anxious younger brother, she spoke, "I'm fine."
Because she had gone without food or water for so long, her lips were chapped and her voice was raspy; every word felt like a sharp sting in her throat.
Hearing her parched voice, Mu Qingyang quickly grabbed a glass of water from the table and began to feed her slowly and carefully.
Although she had been receiving glucose drips during her coma to maintain her energy, she hadn't consumed any real food, leaving her extremely weak.
She took small, slow sips, but after a few mouthfuls, she began to choke. "Cough, cough, cough."
Just then, someone walked through the door. The sunny and handsome Zuo Jun saw Mu Qingxi coughing and asked with concern, "What’s wrong? Did you choke on the water?"
Seeing the cup in Mu Qingyang's hand, Zuo Jun guessed what had happened. He turned to Qingyang and asked caringly, "Qingyang, I wondered where you were when I checked your room. How are you feeling? Is your leg doing better?"
"Yes, much better. I wanted to see if my sister had woken up yet. I didn't expect to arrive at the perfect moment. I'm so happy, hehe."
Listening to Mu Qingyang’s silly words, Zuo Jun felt a sense of joy as well. It was true; they had been waiting for her to wake up every day. Now that she had, they were all overjoyed.
"Qingyang, Cousin, I'm sorry to have worried you," Mu Qingxi said weakly.
"Don't talk nonsense. Just get some rest. Auntie went home to prepare some food; she should be here soon. Knowing you're awake, Mom and Dad will be thrilled!" Zuo Jun said, pulling a chair up to the bedside.
Mu Qingxi looked at her cousin and felt a sense of warmth in her heart. However, when she had first woken up and remembered the events of that day, a sharp pain pierced her heart. She looked at Zuo Jun, wanting to ask but afraid to do so.
Her hesitation did not escape Zuo Jun’s notice. He understood what she wanted to ask, so he said, "Don't overthink it. Bai Fanhao has gone abroad; the domestic medical facilities were limited."
