Chapter 171 Hard to Control
“Heh heh, haven’t seen you in ages, and all you’ve got is slick talk. Looks like your life abroad has been quite comfortable,” Mu Qingxi said innocently.
Bai Fanhao tossed his head back. “Of course! Even in the hospital, I’m quite the charming gentleman.”
“Is that so? No wonder you’re so slick,” Mu Qingxi sneered, playfully balling her fist right in front of Bai Fanhao’s eyes.
Then, gritting her teeth, she asked, “So, tell me, how many foreign beauties have you taken under your wing?”
Bai Fanhao grinned cheekily, clasped her fist, and forced a wry smile. “Nah, not at all. I’m just joking. I was so sick I was out cold—I have no idea what any of them looked like.”
“Oh really? Well, maybe they drained you dry without your knowing. What are we going to do about that?” Mu Qingxi mused, contemplating how to handle him.
Bai Fanhao gave her a pitiful look, feigning anxiety. “Qingxi, it wasn’t my choice. The only one I willingly choose is you—completely, wholeheartedly.”
Mu Qingxi watched him spread his arms wide, eyes closed, clothes askew in a deliberately shameless pose. She laughed softly and tapped his forehead. “Alright, alright, I’m not after you. I’m more interested in food.”
Bai Fanhao’s eyes snapped open. Thinking she’d truly misunderstood, he grabbed her hand and urged, “Qingxi, you can check! I really haven’t been with any other woman!”
Mu Qingxi shook her head, gazing at him with mock sorrow, though inwardly she was amused to no end. “How would I know? Men don’t exactly leave proof behind.”
Bai Fanhao’s face twisted with frustration. Indeed, there was no evidence. How could he prove it if Qingxi didn’t believe him?
Mu Qingxi regarded his troubled expression and said softly, “I’m starving. Let’s eat first. Afterward, we can continue this discussion.”
“No!” Bai Fanhao grabbed her as she tried to leave. “Qingxi, I’m not lying. You’re all I think about. How could I be with anyone else? You have to believe me.”
Her brow twitched ever so slightly. She regretted joking just now—didn’t expect him to be this nervous. It warmed her heart, but also made her ache for him.
Mu Qingxi turned his hand over and held it gently. “I’m sorry.”
Before she could finish, Bai Fanhao silenced her with a fierce, possessive kiss—wild and commanding, tinged with nervousness and a hint of reproach.
He studied her face and eyes intently, noticing her pained gaze. When he heard her apology, he was utterly at a loss.
Only one thought filled his mind: Qingxi might reject him. He held her tightly, kissing her, desperate to stop the words from leaving her lips.
Slowly, Mu Qingxi wrapped her arms around Bai Fanhao, trying to steady her weakening body. She felt his awkwardness, his trembling fear.
But just moments ago, all she’d wanted to say was sorry—for joking, for making him sad.
After a long while, both gasping for breath, Mu Qingxi glared at Bai Fanhao between heavy exhales.
Is there such a thing as a kiss that nearly suffocates? Because she was about to pass out!
Bai Fanhao looked at her fierce glare and laughed silently in his heart, though his face wore an apologetic pout. “Qingxi, I’m sorry. I just couldn’t help myself. Seeing you, I lost all control.”
