Walking along, Bai Fanhao suddenly grabbed Mu Qingxi's hand and said with unusual excitement, "Xiaoxi, your mom and dad invited me over for dinner!"

Mu Qingxi blinked her eyes and feigned confusion, "Really? How come I heard them telling me to go home for dinner, without mentioning you at all?"

"Xiaoxi..." Bai Fanhao drew out the syllable, staring fixedly at her.

Unsure of what he was up to, but sensing it was no good, Mu Qingxi hurriedly hopped back a few steps.

"Oh, quick reflexes, but I'm still going to catch you."

Seeing his claws lunging toward her, Mu Qingxi immediately turned and bolted.

"Hhahaha, you didn't catch me!" she laughed as she dodged him.

Bai Fanhao gave a charming, mischievous smile. "Xiaoxi, watch out!"

The two of them chased and ran, dodging and weaving. Her silvery laughter, sweet smiling face, and nimble movements all clearly showed just how happy Mu Qingxi was.

His hearty laughter, bright smile, and the way he clearly went easy on her as he circled around them both also reflected Bai Fanhao's relaxed and joyous mood.

During dinner, the two of them agreed to go out for a stroll afterward, determined to make up for all the fun they had missed out on over the past few years.

Looking at Bai Fanhao, whose smile stretched from ear to ear, Mu Qingxi was left speechless. So what if her parents had invited him over for dinner? Did he really have to be this thrilled?

"Bai Fanhao, what are you grinning about?"

"Xiaoxi, of course I'm thrilled! You know, I was actually worried your mom and dad would come straight at me with a torrent of scolding, telling me never to see you again!" Bai Fanhao explained. "Besides, this obviously means your parents approve of us dating."

"Hold on, hold on, stop right there! My parents might approve, but I certainly don't!" Mu Qingxi quickly cut him off.

Hearing this, Bai Fanhao frowned slightly for a split second before smoothing it out.

He grabbed her arm, flashed a cheeky grin, and asked, "Xiaoxi, what will it take for you to finally say yes and marry me?"

Marry him?! Why did he just skip ahead so fast?

Mu Qingxi shook her head, pouting in apparent dissatisfaction. "You never even properly courted me! At first, you were always either sneering at me or making sarcastic remarks. Things got a bit better later on, but then someone kept showing up to stir up trouble."

"Someone's heart was wavering back and forth..."

"No it wasn't! Xiaoxi, once I found out Wang Feiyan was Hai Fei's sister, I tolerated everything. Who could have foreseen you'd end up misunderstanding?" Bai Fanhao hastily defended himself.

Then, he smiled warmly and said, "Who says I never courted you? I most certainly did."

Mu Qingxi protested, "No you didn't! You only brought me breakfast a few times."

"Xiaoxi, I obviously courted you. You were running away from me just now, and I was chasing after you the whole time. Didn't I just chase you?"

His words caught Mu Qingxi completely off guard. She widened her eyes and said indignantly, "You—Bai Fanhao, you—"

She was rendered speechless, reduced to shouting his name in sheer exasperation, unable to muster another word.

Bai Fanhao chuckled inwardly. He had really managed to wind her up.

However, his next words left her even more speechless.

"Xiaoxi, are you mad because you feel I wasn't chasing you fast enough?"

Hearing this, Mu Qingxi chose to ignore him entirely, turning a deaf ear to his nonsense.

Bai Fanhao pressed on, "How about you start running again, Xiaoxi, and I'll chase you. I promise I won't go easy on you this time—I'll catch you instantly."

Mu Qingxi felt like crying without tears. Good grief, was Bai Fanhao regressing as he got older? How could his emotional intelligence have plummeted so drastically? It was rock bottom!

Yet she knew, deep down, that he was doing this on purpose. Absolutely, 100% on purpose.
