The two of them walked and played the entire way.

By the time they headed home, both of their hands were unknowingly filled to the brim with packages.

Naturally, Bai Fanhao was carrying vastly more items than Mu Qingxi.

It was only because Bai Fanhao literally had no space left in his hands that Mu Qingxi ended up holding a few things herself.

"Xiao Xi, are you certain you bought all these things as a gift for Mom and Dad?"

Bai Fanhao looked at the pile of items in his hands with a troubled expression. Among them were clothes, food, health tonics, and accessories...

Mu Qingxi nodded, answering with absolute certainty, "Of course. Could it be that I bought them for myself?"

Seeing Bai Fanhao's incredulous look, Mu Qingxi added, "They're already bought, so just take it in stride."

"Alright."

Mu Qingxi's home was actually not very far from where Bai Fanhao currently lived.

Meanwhile, back at the house, Shen Yali and Mu Yuncheng were discussing Mu Qingxi and Bai Fanhao.

"You were right, Xiao Xi really did smile happily today," Shen Yali said softly.

Mu Yuncheng knew that deep down, Shen Yali still held some reservations.

"Fanhao took a fatal blow for Xiao Xi and was on the verge of death."

Shen Yali replied, "I know, but those are two different matters."

Mu Yuncheng patiently reasoned, "He was willing to take a knife for Xiao Xi. Do you think his own parents didn't have anything to say about that? It was Bai Fanhao who lay unconscious, and it was Bai Fanhao who almost lost his life. Yet, how did his parents handle it?"

Shen Yali frowned and remained silent.

"His parents sought us out, had a conversation with us, and said they didn't want to bring up the matter of the knife anymore. They only hoped that Bai Fanhao would live well, and if Xiao Xi genuinely liked him too, they hoped we would give them a chance."

"His parents only want their son to live a good life and were willing to let it go. Should we, as parents, still hold onto petty grudges?"

"Whatever we are fussing over is nothing compared to what they have chosen to let go of. It's not worth dwelling on. You saw it yourself today—Xiao Xi has changed."

Mu Yuncheng genuinely wished for his daughter's happiness. Finding someone willing to lay down their life for her was Xiao Xi's blessing.

There was simply no reason for him to obsess over trivial grievances.

Shen Yali nodded. "I know. In the past, she was always by herself and never went out to have fun. Today, her smile was so brilliant and radiant."

"How could I possibly object? All we ever wanted as parents was for her to live a good life."

Hearing Shen Yali's words, Mu Yuncheng felt greatly relieved. As long as she had come to terms with it, everything would be fine.

"Bai Fanhao is quite a fine young man. He's handsome, has a steady job, and is very driven."

Mu Yuncheng offered these comforting words, though as a father, how could he bear the thought of marrying off his beloved daughter?

Yet, he couldn't keep her by his side at the expense of her own happiness either.

Shen Yali sat down and reflected. Over the past four years, Mu Qingxi had never gone out to enjoy herself on weekends or holidays, only stepping out when Qin Yu and the others invited her.

She would chat and laugh with them at home, but that laughter was always followed by a trace of lingering sorrow.

As a mother, she only wished for her daughter to be joyful and to live a happy life in the days ahead.

Only then could they truly rest at ease.

Once Shen Yali unburdened her mind, she felt much lighter and put on a smile once again.

"It's five o'clock. I'm going to make dinner. Today, let's treat our prospective son-in-law to a home-cooked meal!"

Hearing Shen Yali's words, Mu Yuncheng smiled. It seemed she had fully accepted Bai Fanhao.

Now, they would just have to wait and see how that young man performed.
