I want to pursue you.
Just as Mu Qingxi decided to have breakfast, Bai Fanhao handed her a meal with a sulky tone, saying, “Hurry up and eat.” Then, with his usual cool demeanor, he walked away.
What was going on? He hadn’t spoken to her for ten days, ever since the rehearsals began. Now he suddenly appeared, wearing that annoyed expression, as if he were unhappy.
Oh, why should she care if he was happy or not? Mu Qingxi patted her head in exasperation. It wasn’t any of her business—why was she worrying about him for no reason?
Forget it, eating breakfast was more important. Otherwise, she was sure that fellow would come over and say something, especially since Bai Fanhao was currently sitting across from her, watching intently!
Mu Qingxi stuffed food into her mouth without much grace, not noticing Bai Fanhao approach until he extended a napkin before her. His voice followed, “You’re eating in a most unladylike way!”
Taking the napkin to wipe her mouth, she swallowed and shot him a glance. “Bai Fanhao, what does that have to do with you?”
“It does. I’ve decided to pursue you,” Bai Fanhao replied seriously.
“What? You want to pursue me? But… aren’t you interested in Wang Feiyan?”
Wait, why did that come out sounding so jealous?
Mu Qingxi hurried to explain, “Don’t get me wrong, I just meant—”
Before she could finish, Bai Fanhao interrupted, locking eyes with her. “Mu Qingxi, I mean it.”
Then she watched him walk away, her mind in chaos. How could his attitude change so quickly?
Qin Yu waved her hand in front of Mu Qingxi’s eyes. “Mu Mu, hey, what are you thinking about? I told you Bai Fanhao likes you, but you didn’t believe me. Now you believe it, don’t you!”
Hearing Qin Yu’s words, Mu Qingxi suddenly remembered the conversation she’d overheard in the hospital between Bai Fanhao and Wang Feiyan. Bai Fanhao had liked Wang Feiyan so much—how could he change his mind so easily to pursue her?
Could it be that he was pretending again, this time deliberately trying to pursue her?
Bai Fanhao, is this all just another act?
Mu Qingxi let out a cold laugh, then turned to Qin Yu. “Wei Yu, let’s not watch the performances. Let’s go save some seats for our parents.”
“My parents are on a business trip, they can’t make it.” Qin Yu looked disappointed.
“My mom really likes you. Treat her as your own, and my little brother will be there too. Come on, let’s find some seats.”
“Thank you, Mu Mu.” Qin Yu looked at Mu Qingxi, touched.
And so, Mu Qingxi and Qin Yu left together, leaving Guo Chen alone in the dressing room.
Watching everyone leave one by one, Guo Chen stood there, his face painted in bright colors, muttering, “Am I really so invisible? I’ve become a ghost!”
Shaking his head, Guo Chen slumped onto a stool, lost in thought.
In the auditorium, the stage big enough for a hundred people was already alive with performances. No one was in costume; they all danced in their regular clothes.
Watching the performances, to be honest, they weren’t very good. Dance required matching costumes to truly express its meaning. As things were now, it was nothing short of complete chaos!
“Wei Yu, this chaos isn’t worth watching. Let’s go find our seats.”
“Mu Mu, actually, look—there’s no need. The seats are already reserved. Auntie’s seat is right there.” Qin Yu pointed to the third row.
Following her finger, Mu Qingxi saw a placard with “Shen Yali” on it hanging in the third row.
Sigh!
She didn’t even know her own mother’s influence. She really should get to know her better.
A pang of guilt struck Mu Qingxi. Her mother cared so much about her and knew everything that happened at school, yet she knew nothing about her mother’s work.
“Wei Yu, I’m not feeling well. I’d like to rest in the dressing room for a bit.”
“I’ll come with you.”
“No need. You stay here and watch. I’m not interested. I’ll come back when it’s over.”
Qin Yu didn’t insist and sat in the front row, watching the performances closely. Every now and then, when someone made a mistake, she’d giggle to herself, looking quite mischievous.
