Step onto the stage.
The remaining guests gradually took their seats, and Mu Qingyang also sat down in the guest area, surprised to find the label on his seat read "Representative of No. 3 High School Students." Sitting in front of him was Shen Yali.
Mu Qingyang patted his mother's shoulder and asked, "Mom, do you know what segment my sister is in? I haven’t seen her anywhere."
"I don’t know either, just wait and see—you'll know soon enough. I didn't expect you to be a student representative. No wonder you were so evasive before and didn’t want to leave with me," Shen Yali remarked, looking at the label on her son’s chair.
"Of course, Mom, you should know who your son is! And you never believe me when I say you don’t care enough. I’m the president of the student council, you know, and the school heartthrob!" Mu Qingyang boasted.
She smiled. "Well, that’s my mistake. Let’s enjoy the show." Shen Yali spoke with a tinge of guilt, knowing her son was right—she hadn’t paid enough attention to them.
"Hey, Mom, look! It’s starting. The hosts have come on stage—those two look so familiar, isn’t that my sister and her classmate Wei Yu!" Mu Qingyang exclaimed in surprise.
Shen Yali chuckled, "Yes, that’s your sister and Wei Yu. Make sure to get them on camera."
"Don’t worry, Mom," Mu Qingyang replied, setting up the camcorder he had prepared.
Once the guests, teachers, and students were all seated, Teacher Zhou, the event planner, came in to call the hosts. Guo Chen, Qin Yu, Mu Qingxi, and Bai Fanhao walked onstage in turn, each holding a wireless microphone, standing in position with bright smiles.
"Honored guests, respected principal and teachers, dear students," Guo Chen began.
Then all four of us spoke in unison, "Good evening, everyone!"
"I am your host, Guo Chen."
"I am your host, Qin Yu."
"I am your host, Mu Qingxi."
"I am your host, Bai Fanhao."
As the four announced themselves, the students below burst into applause and started chatting in surprise, questioning how these four became the hosts. Even the teachers were taken aback, and Mu Qingxi caught her Uncle Xin in the front row looking momentarily stunned.
"Let’s give another warm round of applause to welcome our guests, teachers, and friends to this New Year's Gala," Bai Fanhao declared enthusiastically.
The applause continued endlessly.
...
"Now, please enjoy 'Joyful Years,' brought to you by Wen Lulu and others," Qin Yu announced. After the last line, the four of them turned right and marched off the stage in perfect step.
As soon as they got offstage, Qin Yu burst out, "Wow, Mu Mu, that was exhilarating! My first time hosting—I always practiced in front of the mirror at home, and I can’t believe it finally paid off. I’m so happy!"
"Qin Yu, then why didn’t you become the school announcer?" Guo Chen asked.
"I was just unlucky! I applied for the announcer position, but on the day of the interview, I had a cold and sounded all nasal, so I got rejected! And it happened twice—twice! The odds of that are worse than winning the lottery!" Qin Yu complained.
"Well, yeah, that’s pretty unlucky. Good thing I invited you this time, otherwise your talent would’ve gone to waste. Your hosting style is as charming as Hebe Tien’s—really grabs attention," Guo Chen said sincerely, glad he hadn’t listened to the crowd of students who wanted to host.
The four of them took turns returning to the stage in pairs to announce the acts. Forty minutes later, they changed into a new set of outfits—this time in a different style. Qin Yu and Guo Chen wore white formal suits, while I and Bai Fanhao wore gold formal attire.
When we appeared on stage, we drew all eyes in the audience—almost outshining the performers themselves.
