And so, each person was lost in their own thoughts—some with smiles on their faces, others grinning foolishly, and some with stiff, unreadable expressions. Yet, the one constant was the ringing of the school bell.

“Ring ring ring... ring ring ring...”

The students rushed about in a flurry, but Mu Qingxi walked leisurely, and Bai Fanhao strolled beside her, even more relaxed.

“Mu Mu.”

Mu Qingxi turned to look behind her, just as Qin Yu came running over, breathless and panting. When she finally stopped, Qin Yu placed her hands on her hips, bent slightly, and gasped for air, all the while speaking between breaths, “I—Mu Mu, listen... I have to tell you... I just saw Wang Feiyan.”

Mu Qingxi replied with little interest, “Well, what does it matter if you saw her? We’ll just ignore her. As long as she doesn’t bother us, it’s fine.”

She glanced at Bai Fanhao beside her, asking, “Aren’t you curious?”

Bai Fanhao shook his head. “Maybe I would’ve been before, but not anymore.”

It was an honest answer, and indeed, it was true. In the past, Bai Fanhao might have been eager to know what Wang Feiyan was doing so early in the morning; wasn’t it winter break? Why was she wandering around?

But now, Bai Fanhao felt nothing. Perhaps he had seen Wang Feiyan’s true nature, or maybe it was earlier—when he was beaten and Wang Feiyan had only looked at him with disdain, then turned and left without a second thought.

No matter when, as long as he had forgotten, as long as he would never again hurt those around him because of Wang Feiyan, it was enough.

Qin Yu was stunned by Mu Qingxi’s question, and even more so by Bai Fanhao’s answer. She realized she hadn’t even noticed Bai Fanhao standing there, so intent was she on telling Mu Qingxi about seeing Wang Feiyan. How could she have missed such a tall presence right before her? Unforgivable!

Qin Yu said, “Fanhao, do you know when she’s coming back? Will she come to our school to find you, or maybe Xi Haifei?”

Just then, Xi Haifei, who had just arrived at school, overheard someone talking about him and asked, “Who’s looking for me?”

Qin Yu, that silly girl, quickly responded to Xi Haifei’s question, “Dummy, of course it’s Wang Feiyan!”

Only then did Qin Yu react and look at the speaker, her eyes widening in surprise. “Xi Haifei, you, you, you—”

Xi Haifei remained calm. “What’s the matter?”

Mu Qingxi patted Qin Yu’s shoulder, speaking loudly and righteously, as if to reassure her, “What’s with the ‘you’? If you called him stupid, then so be it. He really is a bit slow, nothing to get excited about.”

Qin Yu looked back and forth between Bai Fanhao and Xi Haifei, then turned to Mu Qingxi, who was pulling her along. “Mu Mu, I’m not excited—it’s because I saw them at the hotel. Wang Feiyan was with a boy, tall and thin, with golden hair.”

“Is that really so surprising?” Mu Qingxi was puzzled.

She watched Qin Yu, hoping she would clarify what was so startling about Wang Feiyan and a golden-haired boy coming out of a hotel together, and why seeing Xi Haifei had made her even more agitated.

At last, Qin Yu recovered and spoke earnestly, “The main thing is, I overheard them say something.”

Bai Fanhao’s brows furrowed tightly. “What did they say?”

“Wang Feiyan said, ‘If you help me bring Xi Haifei over, then Mu Qingxi will be yours.’” Qin Yu, for once, spoke with rare seriousness.

Mu Qingxi chuckled softly, “Golden hair? That must be Liu Jun.”

She watched the frowning Wang Feiyan, who thought carefully and replied hesitantly, “I didn’t get a clear look. I was just buying breakfast at the time, and when I saw them come out, I turned and hid in a corner. I didn’t hear anything else—just that sentence.”
